Default CPers going to Spain thread

Thanks to cmyden for finding a great deal to Menorca, Spain and a number of CPers are taking advantage of this. As a few people mentioned in his YYC travel junkie thread, we probably need a separate thread for this.

So here is who is going:
  • jtfrogger & tete: Sept 7-14
  • Mean Mr. Mustard: Sept 7-14
  • Dan02: Sept 7-14
  • Tron_fdc: Sept 7-14
  • RubberDuck + 3: Sept 7-15
  • jar_e: Sept 7-17
  • red sky: Sept 7-21
  • fundmark19: Sept 8-16
  • Rhyme + 3: Sept 12-21
  • Peanut & SeeGeeWhy: Sept 19-27
  • FFR: Sept 19-28
  • Zarathustra: Sept 20-28
  • cmyden: Sept 21-27
  • tvp2008: Sept 21-28
Sites of interest:
Entry/Exit Requirements:
  • Your passport must be valid for at least three month beyond the date of your expected departure from Spain
  • You must provide proof of sufficient funds for your stay

Let me know key info and I'll update this first post.

So I thought I'd try and move the flight confirmation discussion in here from the "deals" thread... I booked on travelocity.com, used Visa, and got a 12-digit "trip ID" number as well as the standard air canada 6 digit/letter reference code in my email confirmation (which I received from travelocity.com within minutes)

Did this happen to anyone else who subsequently had their flights cancelled?

I just found this page, which is interesting. It is the Canadian government's travel report for Spain.

Your passport needs to be good for three months after your departure date. Both my wife's and my passports expire within two months of our trip. Oh well, we are going to have to renew them soon anyway.

I'm booked now from Sept 20th until the 28th. As it stands right now I'm going by myself.

Let me know if any of you other guys are around my age (20) and want to go clubbing with me if you are going at the same time as me.

Before we all get our hopes up too high, we should first be certain we actually have flights Actually we should make sure there *is* a flight!

The price just jumped up like $600 and is a total of $729. Looks like the deal has just expired.

I got in contact with someone from Orbitz and gave the information and he confirmed that everything had gone through. I thought it might have been a mistake but alas everything seemed to turn out well.

If they do pull the rug out from under this, how soon do you think they might do it? I talked with a Travelocity rep and he said that the tickets were confirmed, that transaction was complete and we had ticket numbers generated.

I just wondering if after two days if we don't get any 'Sorry we made a mistake emails' then we're good, or if they can say a week beforehand that we can't have the flight at that price.

I still see it for $96 on travelocity.com departing on the 12th; what dates did you check?

Someone I was talking to said that Span Air should be subject to the EU passenger laws which are pretty consumer-friendly, so it *should* be solid.

Here's hoping!

How far do you get? I just tried. I can get to the point where you have to log in. The dates are a bit more limited, but I can get to that point with the cheap flight.

Might just be different dates. It looks like the option exists for some dates and not others Sept 14th - 21st for example works

I think a lot of European laws are based on the premise that corporations are evil and that customers and employees must be protected from them. That could very well work in our favour.

Use the flexible date option. You get a neat little calendar that helps you pick dates. However, I just got into a weird loop that after a certain point it sends you back to a search screen. But if I enter the dates I found with the flexible date option on the +/- 1 day search, it works. This is all odd.
