1st and a Conditional 4th for Henrique and Carrick...
It will help the Oilers but really feels like they should have used the 1st on a defender.
Although Henrique should help with overall defensive responsibility.

Over the top of what? Carrick does over significant improvement over Derek Ryan. The Oilers problem is 5v5 and overall team defense. Sam Carrick and his 10 mins a game aren't going to move the needle and Henrique is a redundant asset for them. This is a pointless trade for a team that is a complete train wreck on defense.

Wow the first! Overpay.
I don't think the deal will make them contenders. Carrick is alright but they need more. Henrique makes them way stronger in the bottom 6 though- that is, if they resist the urge to stack McDrai on a single line.

It does matter if they play the right role. Both could get 3rd line minutes and PK minutes and only see a dip in their production. Both win face offs and play on the PK. McDavid and Leon get some PK time but the Oilers don't need to play them on the PK.
I'm not saying they are the favs but these 2 make a very hot team better as they really don't need to disrupt their top lines.
