Prairie Sky Gondola says it doesn't want any money from the city for the project, which the company says would cost between $132 million and $155 million.
"It would be one thing if folks were coming to the city of Edmonton saying, 'We have this really great idea — all you need to do is spend $100 million,"' Mayor Don Iveson said before voting in favour of the framework.
"What's actually happening here is someone coming and saying, 'Hey, we think we want to spend $100 million or more in your community to do something cool that we think we can make work economically."
Prairie Sky will also pay yearly fees to the City:

The Calgary economy is trying to build transportation infrastructure diversity to world renowned Banff National Park.
A crappier version of Saskatoon with worse traffic, I mean the Edmonton economy, responds to Calgary with transportation infrastructure diversity to cross the river within their own city’s limits.

I think that's "down to" unless the world has changed since I left Calgary...

"New Rink, Same Stink" is an all timer and I remember chuckling for days after I first read it. Still my favourite.

Reggie, can you add these and the other previous titles to your first post?
Hopefully the list will continue to be added at the beginning of each subsequent thread.

Was #5 "Hey Connor, it's a Mess"?
I found a thread discussing what #5's title should be, but no final decision. "Hey Connor, it's a Mess" and "Same crap, no cap" seemed to be the favourites.

I wonder if there was an issue in version 5 that caused the thread to get black hole'd. Can't find any evidence of it on the internet. Or we couldn't count, and skipped 5.

It can't have been "Hey Connor" though.
In the VI thread, there are posts talking about it needing to break off into a new thread (VI) and people are proposing "Hey Connor" as a title before they settle on "Chia•den•freu•de".

I need to prune this thread as it's grown too big, I'll take the last few pages of posts to start the new thread with.
Is there a preferred name for the new thread?
|
- I’ve always liked “Hey Connor, it’s a mess!”
- Still partial to: "Hey Connor, it's a mess".
- "Hey Connor, it's a mess" would also get my vote.
Before Reggie chimes in with this comment and suggests Chia•den•freu•de:
"The immediacy has passed. A commercial that is no longer in circulation. Past its expiry date as a worthy meme."

Ah, it was Edmonton is No Good 5: Same Crap, Less Cap.
In the naming discussion for 6, getbak says:
Quote:
"Same Crap, Less Cap" was a year too early. This is the season where the lack of cap space is really going to hit them.
|
https://forum.calgarypuck.com/showpo...&postcount=162
Followed by confirmation: "We're just prescient. You know seeing the obvious problems with what they're doing, which just underlines how blind the Oilers are"
So the full list: - I: Edmonton is No Good
- II: Now With 150% More No Goodness
- III: The No Goodening
- IV: New Rink, Same Stink
- V: Same Crap, Less Cap
- VI: Chia•den•freu•de
- VII: There’s Something in the Water
- VIII: There’s Still Something in the Water
- IX: That’s a Team that Knows How to Lose
- X: Up and Down Like a Toilet Seat

Well, there you go. Every few years, I do something useful around here.
I'm still sad we never got to use, "Orange is the new blech".

It SHOULD have been. That was genius.
I don't even understand what "up and down like a toilet seat" is supposed to imply.
