Just wanted to bump this thread….was a great one to go through and see what people are into.
Also funny to see all the mentions of Panerai from a few years ago. It seems like that whole brand is loathed by a lot of watch fans these days. I'm curious how people on here feel about them at the moment…
I hadn't worn a watch for a good 10-15 years, but I've also been a clock fan, and now watches have peaked my interest. I'd like be able to invest in a nice watch for the long term, and I'm trying to whittle my decision down (and my bank account up). My main issue at the moment is whether to go for a more hardy day-to-day watch, or a nicer dress watch for business meetings and events. I have my heart set out on both, but only really have the budget for one.
Some of the day to day options on my list:
Maurice de Mauriac
These guys make custom watches in Zurich. Love the modern look of this thing without it being too crazy.
The Omega Speedmaster never goes out of style. Plus a great story behind it of course.
Tag Heur Monaco - Another new version of an old classic.
In terms of dress watches, I love simple classic designs….some of my favorites:
VacheronConstantine - Out of my budget, but maybe one day…..
I've always loved this simple Georg Jensen
A slightly more atainable option - the IWC Portuegese
I've always loved the modern look of IWC. They seem to be a little pricey considering you don't get an in-house movement though.
Anyone here have any of these watches/brands? Any feedback to offer?
