From cup contenders to "please just let the elimination happen on the road".
I don't know what is more depressing so far, the Flames staying on-brand and wetting the bed in the playoffs, or the dreariness of abysmally low fan expectations.
What’s depressing is coming on and reading your same old doom and gloom trash the second the Flames are down in a game or a series.

In all fairness you lean to the depressing side of things pretty easily, maybe you shouldn't expect otherwise!

I dont feel great about our chances to win the series. Optimistic, but unlikely. But I do feel very confident about winning tonight. And it can all just start with one win, let the snowball accumulate from there.
I can feel stressed about the possibility of losing in Edmonton on Saturday, but we do not shake their hands at the Saddledome tonight!
5-1 Flames (Lindholm x 2, Backstrom, Stone, Gaudreau)
Not that I expect the Flames to come back and win the series, but I hope we win tonight because then the pressure really flips to the Oilers. They have now become the favourite, and heading back to Edmonton where a loss ties things up in the series and has them having blown their lead.
That game becomes a huge pressure game on the Oil, so at least it would be fun to put them in that position.
And either way, just like game 7 versus Dallas, I just want to see them play a strong game. Don’t give the game away, make them earn it.

Unfortunately covid finally made it into my house for my spouse and I so I had to sell my tickets. They went on fansfirst before here so I hope they didn't go to a dumpsville fan. Really hoping for a couple wins so we can go to game 7. Go Flames!

What's far more depressing is hearing from "fans" like you who never have anything constructive to say. That has always been your shtick though.
But I have learned alot about certain posters in the last few days. If you can't handle losing with a certain amount of grace, something went wrong with your development into an adult.

Yeah.
I'm not ready to stop watching the Flames this year. Win tonight and game 6 is a big hockey game. I'd like at least one more of those.
To me one of the biggest issues in this series is the Flames hesitance to play their forecheck game because they don't want to get torched by McDavid.
It's left them with only one guy deep and that's really killed the team's pressure offence.
The top line specifically does most of their damage with all three players below the hash marks, but now you usually see only one.
Maybe go back to their game and just hope that you hem him in more often than not.
Agreed. Plus, any time the Flames have done the things to take advantage of the Oiler weaknesses everyone predicted would be their downfall it's worked. Pressuring Smith and their sad D. Physicality. A good cycle game. Pushing McDavid to the outside. It's worked every time. They just haven't done it very much.

And the key is it just needs to be more balanced.
They had success with their system early in game 1 and game 2.
It burned them when they have the lead though.
They need to start the game more aggressive and on the attack. Then change to the more passive approach if you get a lead and late in the game.
Crazy to think but feel like Flames have actually been outcoached a little this series.
