Fair - I don't necessarily mean from a reliability standpoint as much as general race pace. If they get their quali pace more consistently into the top 6, will they be able to get past the red/blue cars in the race?
RUS starting 4th in Spain was their highest quali result so far. He finished the race in 3rd b/c Leclerc retired and Sainz ran off, but Checo still passed him on track. HAM started 6th, finished 5th (b/c Leclerc).
I wouldn't declare Merc back in the mix until they start beating the red/blue cars that actually finish the race.

Obviously the setup Merc has with the car is sitting 3rd. The point I was getting at is they look to have figured out their major problem, so now they can get to tuning it. They are basically where everyone else was at race 1. I suspect by or after Montreal they'll be fully in the mix.

It's certainly possible, but I still see a lot of other reasons for pessimism:
- the Merc lump doesn't seem to have any particular advantage anymore. McLaren are a much more distant 4th than last year, and Aston/Williams are now at the very back. Obviously lots of variables at play - especially Alfa and Haas each getting a real driver
- HAM has never been great at wringing the neck of a mediocre car, and motivation may be a big issue this year. Can't necessarily blame him after so many years of dominance and a gut punch to end last season. Will beating his teammate be enough motivation? I wouldn't be surprised if he's a bit checked out until later in the season when maybe he ramps up to mount a [final?] challenge next year

Week 6 Standings are in! Congrats mainly to me for finishing 2nd...lol...but this weeks winner, again, is Woob! Well done for 3 slot and 8/10. 5-way tie for 2nd with 2 slot and 8/10.
Woob builds his lead over 3thirty for top spot and Agulati and FurnaceFace for 3rd.
Monaco is this weekend!

I don’t think this is remotely close to the order as I’m predicting chaos at the first corner as Verstappen follows LeClerc’s jump off the line where he gets even with Sainz resulting in a big pile up between the two and whoever else can’t get out of the way.
Monaco is a lovely destination and sitting in the stands at Tabac is great for people and boat watching along the marina but not the best for real racing. I can see why they’d consider dropping it. The Historique week end should stick around though. That’s a great event.

One of these year the stopped watch has to be right? That’s actually a better chaos prediction Max attempted to get around Sainz, spinning him, and then causes a puncture for LeClerc which retires him. Max makes it around with wing damage and manages to end up top 10 anyway. Perez wins and gives Horner the stink eye while on the podium and seems extra exuberant spraying the champagne in his face cause more controversy.
