Can all discussion move over to the new thread now? Best to keep it all in one spot.

According to The Verge, Twitter has been actively removing accounts posting videos from the Ukraine side of the Russian invasion.

No reports of public protests in Russian media. I didn't see anything on the streets either, although I obviously see only a little part of Moscow. There's little doubt that Putin will trample any kind of unrest with severe harshness.

Keep an eye on this from 2 days ago. It an obvious pathway to create further destabilization in Europe.

With all eyes on Ukraine, Putin to send his envoy to Balkans

On the contrary there is extreme ill intent.

I hope the Ukrainians kill as many Russian Military personnel as possible.

The time for discussion and kindness seems to be over.

While I don't want to see civilian casualties on either side, I have no problem wishing to see Russian Military bodies pile up.

Even Russian military personnel are someone's son, friend, brother, dad. I wish for the human suffering to be minimal on all sides.

However, I concede that the best way for this to end quickly, now that we passed the point of no return, is to inflict heavy losses on the invading forces so they rethink their purpose of being there.

#### them.

I would wager that Ukraine has suffered more civilian losses already then the Russians will across this whole conflict.

I think a major concern is that the Ukrainian president has requested that the entire civilian population militarizes and take up arms, and I imagine that the civilian Russian population in Ukraine is doing the same thing. It essentially skews the line between civilian and military targets and this is where things can get really bad from a humanitarian perspective.

Some of these civilians on both sides that accept the invitations will be extremists and those looking for revenge over what has occurred in the past few years. At least that is my fear.

That rests squarely at Russia's feet.

If I was Ukrainian I would be dusting off my #### and looking to kill Russians.

While Russia invades Ukraine, China chooses to buzz Taiwanese airspace. 9 Chinese incursions today.

Cynically....it makes sense.

The eyes of the World are elsewhere. Now is an opportune time for China to do what they've wanted to do for years.

Speaking of which, the EU doubled the size of its peace keeping force in Bosnia today, recognizing recent Russian attempts to destabilize the region.

Russia is wrong about the Ukrainian government supporting neo-nazis, but there ARE a lot of neo-nazi militias in the country.

On the upside for Ukraine, while poorly disciplined and trained, there's quite a lot of them and they're highly motivated to fight Russian invaders.

On the downside, they have a track record of war crimes from previous conflicts, including rape and torture, and you just gave them more weapons, and there's a lot of them, and they're effing neo-nazis

It makes sense strategically in this situation, but...

China has been spending lavishly, The Russian's have increased their spending in a fast modernization program especially with their Navy and Airforce.

The American's had drawn back a bit, but while they're not as formidable as they were during the Cold War, in theory, the American's can probably fight at least 1 major war and 1 holding action right now. During the Cold War they were designed to fight 2 wars and a peace keeping action.

Canada should be spending a lot more, I mean our military is in terrible shape.

The Brits have drawn back to far.

It is to the point that we need to scrap it and start again.
