Hey when you have a Legend thread on here, where you have guy like Austin bumping it when he scores a goal in the 1st period of a meaningless game you get what you get.

He was great for what he did at $2 to $2.5mil/year....

5 minor penalties in the playoffs so far with 3 being in the offensive zone... lol

Bennett this year is pretty much who I thought he'd be on a good team, a 40ish point player that can score 20 to 25 goals. He's actually exceeded my expectations by scoring over 30. I think it was a fair trade what the Flames got for him, and am happy for him for finding success in Florida. I do agree the continuous updates and handwringing when he does anything good does get annoying.

After 8 playoff games, the Panthers have 3 forwards who’ve played more minutes than Bennett - Huberdeau, Barkov, and Reinhart.

Can't wait for Bennett to win the Conn Smythe despite the Panthers losing to Calgary in the Finals

Unfortunately I have grey hairs starting to set in now that I'm 24.

Just waiting for my hips to give out.

Luckily, that doesn't stop me from watching 25-year old Sam Bennett on his quest to winning the Conn Smythe

Lets be honest. We replaced playoff Bennett with playoff Coleman, a guy who's actually won back to back Stanley cups and takes less bad penalties. I know who I'd rather have.

It’s actually Toffoli in term of picks and prospects

I just mean more cap hit than picks and prospects. But Toffoli works too. As much as Toffoli has not found the back of the net yet, I'd rather have him over Bennett too.

If you put the 3 players out there, I bet most teams would pick Bennett but he never was going to work for the Flames

Bennett, Coleman, or Toffoli? I beg to differ. I think most teams take Coleman over Bennett for sure.

Keep in mind this was done prior to the expansion draft. Bennett had a sub par season last year and was likely going to be unprotected anyways. At least we got something for him.
Had we protected Bennett instead of Dube or Backlund, then we would still be holding onto the cap anchor of Giordano, and we would have never picked up Toffoli or Coleman.

For 1 game:

1. Coleman
2. Toffoli...but pretty darn close to a tie and I could easily talk myself into Bennett

The next 3-5 years, factoring contracts:
1. Bennett
2. Toffoli
3. Coleman

Sam Bennett with no goals, no assists, 14 shots in 4 games vs TB.
1 coast to coast goal in game 1 vs WSH. Tantalizing.

Everyone cool with the trade? I am. Both teams won, alll the best to Bennett.

No, the NHL is going to investigate the Lightning for cheating, opening the door to the greatest Stanley Cup Final appearance in history, where Bennett will score 15 goals and 13 assists en route to a Finals loss over Calgary, but still netting the Conn Smythe
