I don't need to buy resources much anymore, thankfully, but I'm still hoping to see the ability to buy resources individually rather than as lump of 100 of each for $0.99 (maybe 400 Gold for $0.99 for instance).
Having to buy resources I didn't need just to get the one I did always frustrated me as a new player.

Have you thought of having a period of time where new users are immune to attack from other players? Maybe it's a few days, maybe 30, maybe it's capped at a certain number of troops (like if they hit 1000 troops it's game on)?

She was never able to gain and hold any territories as far as I am aware. Her office has a few active players I guess so she couldn't gain ground there. The troop count never got to the point where it seemed possible to attack, and since there were no territories the resources have been slow. I am pretty she spent most of her time in the territory that you live in - if my guesses are correct.
I dont think she has played in a couple weeks though, since she hasn't mentioned it at all.
I dont have any suggestions, and it really isnt a big deal to her since she only bought it on my request, but I thought I would point out some issues new users might face.

We have talked about something along those lines. The challenge is to make it work without people creating new accounts just to gain the benefits.

We have an update we're working on now.
We've tried to slow down a bit to allow the WP7 to catch up and because we're going to be releasing the Android version in March.
