The hotels might be posh, their amenities and service first rate, and yet life inside the NHL's two playoff bubbles isn't exactly glamorous.
Having spent nearly a month cooped up at the tunnel-connected hotel-arena complex in Edmonton, Alberta, Rick Bowness acknowledged there's times he's had to coax himself to step outside to bask in the sun and breathe in some fresh, nonfiltered air.
Meanwhile, NHL releasing a series on the behind the scenes look a game production. Very cool.

Of course it is hard being separated from families and having pretty significant limitations on your non-work time.
Yeah, these are millionaires and lucky to have the opportunity but it’s also challenging. Why can’t people just accept the coexistence of the privilege and the challenge?
Thanks for the link to the video, though, I started watching and it looks pretty great

I'm sure they have a harem of the Edmonton and Toronto's escorts from Jasper Ave and Dundas Street stashed in the hotels being tested on a daily basis other than for COVID.
Sorry if this has already been discussed somewhere but as the playoffs proceed, I was wondering if the NHL has announced provisions for others to enter the bubble (owners, family members, etc.) once the Stanley Cup is close to being presented?
I would assume they would simply test anyone who wants to come into the bubble once the Stanley Cup in within reach for one team or the other but I was wondering if they had announced who would be allowed or limits on numbers or anything like that?

Yes, I believe starting this round families can enter the bubble
It was Milbury and he wasn't fired, he just left the bubble. In addition the guy is a complete and utter idiot that makes stupid comment after stupid comment, if he ends up losing his job it won't be just because of that quip.
I can’t really think of a cooler once-in-a-lifetime experience as an athlete than being in one of these bubbles.
It’s a pandemic. We’ve all had it rough, and most of us have had to return to work without an army of professionals dedicated to our safety. You’re not going to be there forever, but you will have stories to tell for the rest of your life. So lean into the novelty.
A bunch of elite athletes sequestered for a spectator-less main event. It’s basically the plot of Enter the Dragon.
Except none of the players are trying to figure out “what’s really going on” and nobody’s turning up murdered.

For a young, non-parent hockey player - I agree. Any of the players that have young children at home are going to find this bubble life very difficult - and I don't blame them. Some things are more important than money: Seeing your child's first steps, birthdays, watching them change, develop and grow. When you have an infant or a toddler a few months is a very long time and you'd miss a lot of special moments that you can't get back.

I hope he rebounds as GM for the Oilers

This is Stars taxi-squad player Justin Dowling, who is from Calgary (you may remember that he scored his first NHL goal earlier this season at the Saddledome -- in the before times -- and his mom missed it because she was 'dealing with a drink').
Being from Calgary likely made things a lot easier for his wife and daughter to make the trip to Edmonton without any hassles or quarantine issues. It might not be as easy for the other players' wives and families.

So far, they're the only family that has entered the bubble because they were able to drive up to Edmonton from their home in Cochrane. Other Stars players' families are expected to join them in time for the Final (and presumably families for the Eastern Conference champion too).

I was reading about this the other day, but I can't remember where for link to the story.
The NHL apparently promised all players that if they made the finals, their families would be able to enter the bubble with them. Now the Canadian government isn't allowing it for any players that aren't Canadian (Quarantine issues IIRC).

With the border still closed, letting families in from the U.S. in would require them to quarantine for two weeks. The finals will be over by then and the players going home. It was a great idea but it was more hope than reality. The NHL doesn't control the Canadian COVID response.
