It's basically 1-12 are not very easy, not a lot of realistic scoring opportunities, and then 13-18 are all scoreable. It's why the Masters usually produces more drama than the other majors (that, and the familiarity factor).

2 and 8 are definitely scoring holes, just gotta earn it.

Which can also get players into trouble. If they miss their chance on two it’s like they feel t he need to make it up somewhere else on the front 9, so they don’t make smart choices. Especially those front 9 Par 3s that can be downright nasty as well (12 gets all the fanfare, but there’s three pain in the ass Par 3s on that course, with 3 ‘easy’ Par 5s when lesser courses have it the opposite.

11 is also a great hole for drama to lead into the scoring stretch because the scores can vary so much. Play it great you’ve got a birdie, play it bad you’re trying to save bogey.

So yeah, the perfect golf course basically.

Even with how long guys hit now 8 is still a three shotter for most because of the severe uphill. 2 is more scoreable but that is a brutal approach with the bunkers around the green and a narrow opening into the green. I honestly think the strategy to winning is try to get to 12 at even, and go -3 in. If you did that every day you'd be at -12 and that wins a lot of years.

Looks like Hughes will be playing this weekend. Hopefully Conners can have a solid round today as well and make the cut.

Course is definitely playing way easier today, thankfully Rose stumbled a bit to keep things close. Looks like +3 will be the cut line.

Dechambeau back to even par. I may have spoken too soon yesterday. 4 under today.
Cut sounds like +3.

some big names going to miss the cut, Cantley, Westwood, Im. Z. Johnson.

Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlroy missing the cut will be huge.

I guess there's not going to be a Rory backdoor top 10 this week. Already +6 and just caught a brutal lie in the fairway on 10 and shanked it hard.

Kim had a meltdown on the 15th green and has to play the last three holes with no putter. Interesting turn of events there.

S.W. Kim threw his putter away and is playing the last 3 holes putting with a hybrid. So awesome.

Lol that has to be one of the oddest meltdowns, he's T-5 and -3 on his round, and he made par on the hole he broke the putter.

Still holding out that Rory can get five straight birdies, make the cut, then go 67-65 for a comfortable top 10.

I love that kind of stuff. I especially loved him standing there in shame with the camera following for a good two minutes. He looked up a couple times like "are they still there? **** they're still there".
