Mark Stuart, 33, played the past six seasons for the Winnipeg Jets. He’s a stay-at-home defenseman with a track record of ugly possession statistics and minimal offensive production, which begs the question of why the Hawks are interested in him. Presumably the main idea is simply to give Michal Kempny, Gustav Forsling, Erik Gustafsson, and Jordan Oesterle some extra competition in camp, although it would reflect pretty poorly on those four if Stuart earned playing time over them.

John Mitchell, 32, is a bottom-six center who spent the past five seasons with the Colorado Avalanche. From 2012-13 through 2015-16, he had four straight seasons with 10-plus goals and 20-plus points, but like the rest of the Avs, his production collapsed last season with three goals and seven points in 65 games (yikes). He’s good at faceoffs (50.7 percent career rate) and could factor in on the fourth line, but you’d think the Hawks have better options between Tanner Kero, John Hayden, and Laurent Dauphin.

Drew Miller, 33, is another bottom-six forward who played the past seven-plus seasons for the Detroit Red Wings. He’s posted some spectacularly bad possession numbers over the years, including a minus-14.4 percent Corsi Relative in 82 games in 2014-15. That means the Red Wings’ Corsi was nearly 15 percent lower with Miller on the ice compared to when he was off.

Would you rather have any one of these 3 guys being on PTOs for the Flames?

I suppose if I had to choose I would prefer the player be someone I have heard of yes. I don't see any of these PTO's earning NHL jobs with the Flames.

Cramarossa's no good, but he's better at playing hockey than Gazdic & Glass as well as somewhat competent in the face punching department.

I'd heard of him but I suppose it was because when he played against the Flames and his name was uttered I went "that's a funny name". But thinking back, he usually played OK against them.

Looks like they're just trying to have some competition to fill the bottom 4 and stockton and hope they can replace the muscle they lost with engelland. I would guess they're hoping that ferland won't have to fight as much either one of these guys (Cramarossa/Glass/Gazdic) don't suck too much.

Was happy that Tkachuk fought him. Did well for a young buck. Chiasson not so much. Dont hate this move if he does sign, but he wont add much.

His dad Vito was an extra in the movie "Youngblood" - That's all I've got.

Was his mom an extra in 'Straw Dogs?'

What did the local newspaper have to say about their ages?

his teammate in Anaheim - Sgarbossa is on a one-way contract with the Jets

I think the Flames might be looking around and wondering if they might miss Bouma and Engelland.

Engelland being good enough to play for 18:20 game for 81 games and having 9 fighting majors is leaving a gap in on ice presence that would deter non-goons from disrespecting Gaudreau and standing up to Tkachuck. Ferland and Hathaway will have to step up and into this role thus the interest in Gazdic and Cramarosa.

Takes away a roster spot and make the 4th line a true 4th line.

Yeah. Bennett destroyed him at the blueline on an offsides. Cramarossa got up and chopped at Bennett a bit, with Chiasson stepping in to talk to him.

This fight was immediately after.

I wouldn't mind if that hit became a post-win thread gif...

He's a tough player. I wouldn't mind him getting some 4th line minutes if others get injured.

It would take at least 5 regular forwards getting injured before I'd be fine with giving him 4th line NHL minutes. Like I said, he's better at playing hockey than Gazdic & Glass, but not by a good amount.

Or did you mean 4th line AHL minutes...If so then okay I guess.
