Do you know what kind of teams trade away 1st round picks in consecutive years? Contenders competing for the Cup.
Benning ruined my team. Over and over for years. So, yeah, it “stings”.

Just be glad you’re not the Oilers

Wait - was the rumour of Calgary being interested why Vancouver took OEL? Brilliant.

The crazy thing is the Miller trade seemed so risky with the Canucks coming off a top 10 pick and multiple playoff misses but the deal worked out great for them.
The Garland-OEL for the 9th pick and cap dumps will haunt the organization for years to come as OEL continues to be a boat anchor

Yeah didn't make any sense at all.
The ugly contracts they traded are going to expire in three months. Keep the pick, draft a top ten prospect tough it out for a season and go from there.

Stumbled on these at that other forum site from the Canucks fans. I was looking for other fan bases reactions to the trade. They gave me a chuckle so I am sharing.

Flames might win the cup and Benning helped contribute to a good portion of their roster.

Calgary is gonna make me need counselling.
Virtanen drafted from Calgary. Baertschi pick nets Andersson. Juolevi instead of Tkachuk.
Tanev Markstrom now Toffoli. A Sutter running the show. Gudbranson is actually playing ok.
Like WTF is going on?

It’s like Calgary just looked at Benning and went “see what he’s doing? Let’s do the opposite”.

They even have Brad Richardson! Just to rub salt in the wounds. Er, more salt.
Amazing that he's still serviceable some 7 years after letting him walk for nothing because he was too old (and later replacing him with the older and worse Beagle at 3x the price...)

You have to respect those Canuck responses. They're our rival, but they at least have some grasp of reality. Contrast those responses to the Oiler reactions to Lucic/Neal. There's definitely a reality gap.

Correct, I am always happy when players I really like see success, regardless of where they see it. Not everyone lives life bitter and angry.

If I thought we had any chance at re-signing him in two years I'd be much less open to the trade, but here we are!

That comment made me reflect on my hardened heart. Jarome Iginla is my childhood hero. I love him so much that I cry every time I think about him. However, if he took a contract with the Oilers he would be dead to me forever.

Oilers fans were acting like they'd won the lottery after the Lucic/Neal trade. I tried to explain that it was a junk for junk trade....a few goals from Neal - playing #1 PP with McDrai - and they were shouting from the roof tops.
Love how the trade ended up working out. If the Flames make a deep playoff run, Lucic will most certainly play a part in that.

If we somehow got Edler and replaced Cassie Campbell for Jim Hughson that would be the most epic lol for Canuck fans.

This deal is good from a Canucks fan perspective if you can let go of the past. It helps set a price for any deal for JT Miller, [B]which is now shaping up to be one of those trades that has the potential to really change the long term direction of the franchise depending on the return[/B-].
|
Oh, come on. These sorts of deadlines deals always return much less than most expect, and it's a sellers market with so many teams already out of it.

I think you mean a buyer's market. A seller's market means it's good to be the seller. I assume you know this and it was just a brain fart, but who can resist a chance to fix the text of the Textcritic.

Aha's Take on Me with the crowd chanting
TOOEEEE-FOOOHHHHH-LEEEEEEEE during the chorus
That would be awesome and annoying to the other team and their fans.
