Agreed.

I think that Mike would be a solid uncensored podcast.

Kelly Kirsch just announced that SN960 will debut a new 10–12 show about Western Canadian sports on Monday. It will be hosted by Vancouver's Scott Rintoul, who is excellent. It sounds like this will be a regional show exclusive to SN platforms on Vancouver SN650 an Calgary SN960.

End of an era, wow. I've been listening to Jim Rome for 15 years - it's nothing close to what it used to be, but let me raise a glass to a legend and say thank you for the countless hours of entertainment.

If I heard one segment of Rome during high school, I could tell you basically down to the minute what time it was for the 10-1 time block. Not a tremendously useful skill, but I impressed myself.

Wills complains a lot about calls or non-calls that go against the Flames. That should not be his role.

THis show will suck...

you think the 9 o'clock hour sucks now??? Imagine that for 3 additional hours

I will no longer be listening to fan960 between hours of 9-flames pre game...

No. I don't think the 9:00 show sucks. It's fine. But it is also a mistake to think that Scott Rintoul is essentially the same as Peter Klein. Rintoul is excellent, and given that this will be a Calgary/Vancouver regional show, I expect it to be quite different, and quite a bit better.

This is a welcome change.

I am sure that your patronage and that of the six other Jim Rome fans will be sorely missed by the station. I for one will tune in for the first time after 9:00 in the existence of SN radio since its inception in the Calgary and Vancouver markets.

Same here. I'm actually really interested at what the format will be, or rather how Western Canadian Sports inclusive it will be. It might be a really good opportunity to cultivate interest in peripheral/amateur sport, including the WHL and CIS.

Personally, I would LOVE to have a dedicated segment to the goings on in the WHL. I've lost touch with that aspect of hockey as I've grown up, and it might be a good way to reconnect.

You did not repeat yourself anywhere near enough times. Enough times to repeat? No. Gotta repeat that. Repeat. Yourself.
You. Need. To. Repeat. The. Same. Thing. Way. More. Often.
I don't know about you, but I think you should have repeated what you just said, again, in order to ensure the clones got it.

I'm looking forward to this, especially since they are expanding the viewpoint from this market (so its not just the same guys repeating themselves), but still keeping the sports talk largely relevant to a local audience.

10-12 used to be a blackhole for me in regards to the FAN. I just didn't care for anything that Rome ever talked about...I just have zero interest in the intricacies or drama of college sports or whatever he talked about. Honestly I would've even preferred them just repeating the morning show (since many of us don't hear it all) over listening to Rome.

Good riddance to 2 hours of Rome. Listened to it for a few minutes once when I was light on podcasts and thought holy what the heck is that and avoided it ever since.

Must say the 2 hour Toronto hockey central at noon (10:00 our time) has been decent to listen to in that time slot. Then our hockey central at noon starts and oof, yikes. Usually opens with MLB, MLS and NFL headlines and then onto the daily Loubardias rant. Sometimes redeemed by Duhatschek.

I've always liked Scott Rintool.

Look forward to the change and will definitely tune in.

Rintool promised a lot of fantasy football, if that is your thing... I have listened to Rome (hardly at all lately) for around 25 years. The best part of his show was always the non-jock interviews (because most jocks are idiots and he was sucking up to them too hard).
I listened to Kirsch interview Rintool, and he seems to have a pleasant voice and good enunciation, so I guess that alone puts him well ahead of the local "talent". I feel bad for our guys because they are young, poorly paid and try hard, but...

I listened to Rome when I couldn’t change the station. I see the appeal to his audience. But I’m not sure his audience is here. For the most part anyway.
