As they got off the river yesterday my son and I were watching from the top of the river bank. Got chatting with the fella beside me, turns out he was the cup handler. The best part was him subtly praising and hyping the cup with cat calls.
“Wooo nice cup”.
“What a shine on that thing”
“36 inches of beauty”
He didn’t care about who had it, he was just hyping the cup.
It was the perfect amount of humour.

Who was the guy with him who couldn’t touch the cup? I’m guessing it’s the superstition of not touching it until you win it if you’re a hockey player?

I remember years ago when this photo surfaced and people were saying Kadri would never win the Cup because he touched it before he won it.
I'm glad he broke that curse before he signed with the Flames.
