The NFL should have had terms of reference for the judge that explicitly asked her to decide the suspension while disregarding precedent with the intention of creating a new precedent based on the decision made by an independent adjudicator. By basing her decision on previous suspensions, the judge didn’t actually do the job she should have done. By having to appeal, they’ve undermined the new process and are back at square one.

The NFL has a problem with appropriate and consistent punishments and this isn’t going to get them out of it. However, they do need to make sure that justice is served in this case and 6 games just isn’t right.

So they initially suspended him for the 2022 season and now it’s six games? Was that because of the appeal by the players association. I did read the report but missed that part.

Looks like they revised their own previous recommendations.

3 years in a row now the Broncos are down a top receiver due to a ACL early in the season. If I'm Jerry Jeudy's knee, I'm skipping camp next year. He's the lone survivor of that top 4 at this point

A little bit sad in a way, Pat Bowlen was part Canadian, grew up in Alberta, and spent the early part of his career here. I don't know if there are any other Canadian ownership ties to an NFL team. End of an era.

Derwin James and the Los Angeles Chargers have agreed on a four-year, $76.4 million extension that makes him the highest-paid safety in NFL history, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The deal has an average annual value of $19.133 million, the source told Schefter, and will reset the safety market.

What a crazy story. I wonder if how this will affect his TV career. The guy has a bit of a history with guns.

IMO should have been 17 games but this is better than 6. I still hate that the Browns structured the contract in a matter he doesn't lose any money. I understand that a team was always going to give him another chance as this is the way it is in professional sports but paying him while he's suspended for what he did to those women is just a really bad look for the Browns.

Yeah agreed about it being 100% guaranteed. It was the sign of a desperate team who knew they had already alienated their current franchise QB by publicly chasing Watson, and had to come away with something.

With a contract like that, it's little wonder the Browns went from being the first team eliminated from the Watson sweepstakes out of those 4 teams chasing him, to suddenly getting back in the race and taking the lead right at the very end. No-one else was giving him a fully guaranteed contract like that. His agent played that whole situation masterfully.

You know why 11?

The 12th game is in Houston. Ratings bonanza!

Which sucks. He was a good colour commentator to listen to along side of Gus Johnson.
