Masterful 9th end by Team Canada. Best I’ve seen from them all week.

I think having the ice cleaned changed the game's mojo, lol

Agreed. It seemed to change the momentum. Or give Canada their confidence back after those picks.

Team Canada (Brad Gushue, Mark Nichols, Brett Gallant, and Geoff Walker) wins Bronze in Men's Curling!

At least Curling Canada doesn't go home empty-handed, but overall, this marks the end of a second straight disastrous Olympics for Curling Canada (1 Bronze, 4 Playoff misses) since Lawes/Morris won Gold in Mixed Doubles to kick off 2018.

Yes! Great Bronze Medal. Nothing to be ashamed of.

Hopefully ending on a high note leads to momentum for Curling Canada heading into 2026!

Canada now has more overall medals than the USA at these Olympics.

It will definitely be interesting if Curling alters their Olympic selection process like some have suggested in the other threads.

After missing the podium in the 500m for the first time all season, Dubreuil lands on the podium in the 1000m for the first time all season!!!

TALK ABOUT REDEMPTION!!!

It is absolutely INSANE how fast German sleds go.

Could be the worst driving imaginable and they still find their way to the top of the leaderboard lol

Christine de Bruin & Kristen Bujnowski are in 4th in Two-Woman Bobsled after 2 runs!

However, they are 0.42 back of Bronze medal position, which is a lifetime in Bobsled.

Very likely to finish 4th or 5th.

I wouldn't use the word disastrous they finished about where expected if you are a neutral observer. The World is really really good. In mens and women's, Canada almost had to go to the repechage tournament to qualify for these Olympics as both Einerson and Bottcher both finished 6th at the World's.

Edin vs Mouat
Hasselborg vs Tiranzoni
is what most experts predicted for the finals.

But Japan is up right now!

Yeah not just the Olympic process, everything. Canadians who only watch curling every four years will believe the hype but it's been a struggle for at the last decade. It's not women's hockey

And GB just took 4 in 9 to go up 3. Japan up 1 coming home with hammer.

A GB/Japan final? huge upsets brewing.

Japan have won, they won the wrong game haha

Sweden gets 3 in 10 to force an extra. 11-11, crazy game.

On 'That Curling Show' the panel was unanimous that the selection process needs to change, even if it is just moving the trials up by 8-9 months.

Interestingly, Jennifer Jones gave her opinion that she thinks the process is fine as is and had nothing to do with Canada's challenges at this Olympics.

This is an excellent watch by the way, Jones is a true champion.

More Random Biathlon musings!

Canada should be very happy with their results this year. They had some country-best finishes in the Olympics this year, and they looked really solid in some difficult conditions. Their shooting was fast and accurate, keeping them in lots of races. In today's 15 km Mass Start, The Gow brothers were perfect after the first prone shooting and managed to be in 1st and 2nd place for a while. They probably aren't happy with how the race ended up (Christian was the best in 13th) but I was super impressed with their ability to stay with the big players for long stretches. Hopefully they can find that next gear to use the course to gain on people, since right now it feels like that's where teams like France, Norway and the Republic of Cheaters can gain the advantage.

In my previous post I mentioned that Roeiseland of Norway was the one to watch, and could keep her team in medal contention regardless of what happened before. I don't think you could have predicted what happened in the second leg, where Eckhoff had some of the worst standing shooting I've seen of all the Biathlon events this Olympics. She was shaking and couldn't settle herself. Even after using all her spares she had to do 2 penalty loops. Eckhoff went from being 14 seconds off the lead to just under 2 minutes back. To Norway's credit, they ended up 4th place in the race through some decent shooting and incredible skiing from the rest of the team. Eckhoff redeemed herself in the Mass Start by getting Silver, and Roeiseland got Bronze, just shy of being the first Bialthete to win 6 medals in one Olympics.
