everything is delayed an hour and a half as rain just came through, the doubles match scheduled at 4pm (mountain) hasn't started yet. They should move that doubles match outside.

Always nice when you hold your first service game with an ace.

As others mentioned, its too late for him and the US Open, but his ranking will be high enough to walk into the Australian Open without needing to qualify.

Well, this is Sascha in good form. Let's see if Denis looks outclassed. Needs to hit some first serves.

There's the difference. Both guys at 15-30 on consecutive service games. Sascha wins 3 straight points on his to hold, and Denis folds on his. Too bad, but that's just inexperience.

Yeah, but on mistakes by Zverev. He hasn't hit his shots as well this match as the last couple. Well, that was a good point though. I like him looking to come in. Even if he gets passed, he puts the pressure on Zverev.
Problem is that Zverev's backhand, even though it isn't scary, is super consistent.
Don't think either of them are likely to make Federer sweat.

And now suddenly Zverev has learned how to serve. This does not bode well.
EDIT: wait, now he forgot how to return. What the hell.
EDITEDIT: annnnnd he forgot again. This is just weird.

Wow, this kid is so impressive, nice hold after being down love-30 in his service game.

Well, it was a gutsy hold from 0 - 30 after that so that helps. But yes, that was an opening you really have to make something out of. Zverev has been inconsistent though, so it isn't over just yet.
Edit: big point at 15-30 here... nope, wasted it.

Well, that's that. Three times he had 15-30 on Zverev's serve or better, and Zverev served out the game fairly easily. Three times Zverev had break point, and Denis double faulted into a free break. That's a whole set. Can't win like that.
Really too bad, would have liked to see one of those go to a tie break at least. Still, good fight in the last game and great run. Just needs more consistency.
