I've played Power Grid with three people and enjoyed it a lot.

I wouldn't recommend regular 7 wonders for 3 people it still plays fine, it's just better with more people.
I prefer Roll to Galaxy, but it's also newer, so that could be why. Race or Roll is solid for 3 players though.
One game I've been enjoying lately with three is Quadropolis, it's a tile placement game with a city building theme.

I played the print and play version a few times. 20x better that any other hidden identity game I've played

Interesting. There seems to be a split of opinion on 7 Wonders from what I've been reading. Some people say it works best as a 3 player game because you're directly interacting with the other 2 players. Other people say it's far better as a 4 player game.
I find myself conflicted with Race vs Roll. From what I've seen I feel as though I'd enjoy Race more but it sounds like Roll is a much easier game to teach others. I also get the impression that it's easier to learn Race after having played Roll.
I'll have to look into Quadropolis.
Anyone recommend Citadels? Or does that game feel too dated now. I see they are releasing a revised version next month. I wonder if it's worth picking up an older copy or waiting for the new one.
How about Dominion? I've played it a couple times with a larger group of players and had a good time.
One of the problems I routinely find myself in is that I don't actually own a lot of games. I play most board games with the same group of friends, one of whom has seemingly every game ever made. But when I don't game with this person I really don't have many options. My library is actually pathetic; consisting only of Catan, Risk, A&A Europe and X-Wing. I'd like to change that.

I guess if your really competitive, 7 wonders with 3 would be decent, I always liked having at least 4, it made it a bit harder to plan ahead.
Citadels was a great game I felt, we played it a lot, It's another I'd recommend 4 or more.
Dominion is a great game, but I like other Deck Builders more, my group loves Core Worlds the most.
If your looking to stock up on games Meeplemart or 401 Games are cheapest online stores in Canada with free shipping if you spend a certain amount.

I think I've mentioned it in here before but Pandemic is a fun game. You play against the game and have to work together. 3 people is the minimum I think, but we did it a few times and it was great.
Also, not sure if I mentioned already, is Super Fight. It's like Cards Against Humanity mixed with Balderdash (which is old, but an awesome game with a bunch of drunk of friends). There are a bunch of different themed versions.
Also recommend hitting up a game cafe. There are a few just south of downtown.

Cool, thanks for the suggestions.
Since I began playing X-Wing, I've become very familiar with 401 and greatboardgames. It's saved me a lot of money and also encouraged me to buy more stuff I don't need lol.

Ya, Pandemic is great. I hadn't considered buying it myself but I may have to re-think that one. The two people I often have over actually own Super Fight and we've played it a couple times. It's pretty entertaining but like Cards Against Humanity I think it would shine with more people. I might just have to borrow a few games off a friend and try them out.

Be prepared to meet new people and play new games.
If you haven't pre-registered for any scheduled events, don't worry. About half the table space is devoted to open gaming. Don't be afraid to approach people setting up a game and ask to join. Often one of the players will be able to teach, but if not the con has wandering ambassadors who will teach a game to a table. If you have a game you already know and you want others to play, just start setting it up and you'll probably be able to rope in some curious onlookers. If there's something you don't own yourself but you're interested in trying, you'll find it in the massive FallCon game library.
Follow standard boardgame etiquette. Introduce yourself, help set up, thank anyone who teaches, and help clean up.
The food is decent, but the lines and wait can get quite long at peak hours, so you may want to order at non-peak times. Or you can leave the convention site to grab food. A good time to leave if you're not into bidding on used games is during the auction on Saturday.

Finally got a chance to try out my Kickstarter version of Scythe. Our group really enjoyed the game, great mechanics, great art and amazing game pieces.
I am going to try the Solo Automa format soon.

As a plug, y'all should be sure to check out Prototype Alley at Fallcon; I'll be overseeing it on Saturday morning. There's some local designers doing great stuff, and two games nominated for the Canadian Game Design Award (also announced that weekend) will be amongst those being playtested.

I recently grabbed the lord of the rings card game and have had a lot of fun playing through the cycle packs. This could get expensive really fast though if you just plan to burn through the quests instead of trying different decks. This is my first deck building game and with their score keeping its fun to limit my decks and see how good I can still do.
I like that it's just as fun to play solo as it is with another person.

They also just released the Arkham Horror card game which is a cooperative card game much like Lotr, with cycle packs. I've played the hell out of Lotr card game so it was nice new experience.

Ya Arkham looks great as well and so does the minatures game. What was your favourite box expansion and cycle pack from LOTR? I am just starting out in Shadows of Mirkwood. Do you recommend playing through in order? Skipping ahead? Going straight to the legacy expansions to play the story line?

Oh that's tough, my group has everything up to date, I think the cycle following Kazadun was fun, fight the balrog, there's another adventure where everyone gets split up which is cool.
You don't have to play in order there's quite a bit of adventures that only had a small part in the book. So only if you know that books inside and out would I worry about playing in order, it doesn't change the game. I think that saga packs had a campaign mode which my group never played.

Is this also the thread for Wargaming?
I've decided I have too much money and not enough sense, so I'm getting on that train.

I assume you're talking about Warhammer. I got off that train a long time ago. I used to "play" 40K with some friends. I think in all my time I only ever played 5 games and they were never full games since my friends took forever to paint their armies and I never wanted to play at GW stores.

Those squares are so sexxxxy.
Just played 7 Wonders Duel, great little 2 player game. I am not a fan of 7 Wonders but this is a fun little game. My wife and I have played it almost 10 times in the last few weeks.
I ordered Kahuna which is supposed to be good 2 player game - will post a review when it gets here SC.
