To be fair, the Sam scenes were actually quite awesome in that one. Especially when you bring a Tywin-like offspring shaming father figure and another Valyrian sword into the equation.
Came for everyone complaining about how much screen time Sam received, leaving disappointed.
Actually not that disappointed, glad everyone seems to be coming around on that angle. Also does Sam even know Valyrian steel kills white walkers? I cannot remember if he left the same time as Jon went north with the ships (which was where Jon discovered Valyrian steel kills white walkers) or if he left when Jon returned. I seem to think he left the same time as Jon though, so he wouldn't know about the powers of Valyrian steel yet and him taking the sword in his mind is nothing more than a big #### you to his dad.
Yes.

I still don't quite understand the whole Sam story.
So he is going to learn more about the Whitewalkers? Doesn't Jon already know what there is to know? Surely people know about the dragon glass and Valyrian Steel?

there's maybe a couple dozen Valyrian blades and a little bag of dragonglass from the Fist of the First Men, which in order to use, you have to get past the infinite horde of wights first. aside from these two weapons, the only other white walker weakness is their dumbass tendency for one of them to rush ahead of the others without backup, inevitably exposing themselves to someone who has their kryptonite in hand.
the Night's King has been around for millennia, and presumably his buddies are immortal as well, so he's had plenty of time to steal babies and turn them blue. my guess is even though we've only ever seen 4 walker on screen at a time, there's probably thousands of them, plus other snowy creatures we haven't even seen yet. they might even have one of these for example
