How much will that net cord volley on match point matter? Rafa saves three match points from love-40 down to hold. We play on in London.

Thiem full value for that straight sets 7-6 7-6 win. That was a terrific match.

Thiem is just too good in tie breakers. Nadal played really well but Thiem has pushed down the door and firmly planted himself in the top 3. If Thiem wins this tournament he could be #2 in the world which is crazy.

It makes you wonder how many grand slams Thiem could end up winning - He has to be the #2 favourite after Nadal at Roland Garros and he definitely has the game to be dangerous at the Aussie Open and he already has one US Open title under his belt. With his serve and ground strokes, you'd think he be challenging at Wimbledon as well, but he still looks uncomfortable on the grass.

I've wondered that my self, he is 27 so still in his prime. I'm going to say 5 (more than Murray and Wawrinka) as he is clearly a step above everyone not named Djokovic or Nadal (just on clay and grass I suppose). I predict 1 AO, 2 US Open and 2 RG. Nadal will win 2021 RG then Thiem will win the next two.

My goodness, it took less than 20 minutes for Greek Yogurt to win the opening set 6-1 over Rublev.

Much better from Rublev in the second set as he battles back and saves break points before breaking Tsitsipas to take set 2 6-4

Great match as Tsitsi takes it in a 3rd set breaker. Thiem is through to the semis and Nadal vs Tsitsipas will play where the winner moves on.

Rublev serving for the match at 6-5 in the 3rd set tie-breaker and he double-faults. That's gotta sting.

and that includes two years of doing almost nothing at all...sigh this is a tough end of season event for me to get revved up for, with no Indoorer and no Canadian kids. but everyone who is there has won big matches this year and this is probably as close to a passenger-free top 8 as you can get.

Medvedev just won the opening set 6-3 over Djoker. When's the last time Novak had 16 unforced errors in a set of tennis?
Edit: Medvedev jumps out to a 3-zip lead in set 2 and has won 7 games in a row.

Rublev takes down Thiem, which means Rafa will finish the year #2, but you have to wonder for how long? Does Thiem have a shot at world #1 next year?

Rafa just broke Tsitsipas courtesy of a double-fault and will serve for the opening set at 5-4
Edit: Back-to-back aces slams shut the opening set 6-4 for Nadal.

Nadal returns the favour on set point as he double-faults to give Greek Yogurt set 2.
Edit: All that great work by Tsitsipas in set 2 undone by a loose service game to start set 3. Nadal breaks.
Edit 2: Greek Yogurt breaks right back.
Edit 3: Make it three consecutive breaks of serve to start set 3.

Rafa takes it 6-2 in set 3 and is through to the semi-finals.
