I'm pretty sure some fans are just getting frustrated with the fact Lazar and Jankowski who deserve to be in the lineup aren't. Specifically because of guys like Brouwer/Glass/Stajan.
With Jagr ready to go some fans are just anxious to see the best possible Flames team we can ice and given the fact we're playing well they're getting impatient.
With that being said all this putting down Brouwer crap is way over the top. You'd think he was the worst player in the league with the amount of s**t he takes. I'm sure Treliving is doing everything he can to find a deal but until then let's be patient and enjoy the teams success up to this point

Of course we'll complain about that useless trash that's taking up valuable cap space

In that case, even less of an argument to strip the A.
IMHO, an A worn by a guy on a lower line is a good thing. It shows that contributions across the board are valued.
The one thing that was a little off about this one was that he got it without a single game as a Flame. Just like Phaneuf got his C in Toronto (or McDavid). There's something off putting about that, but if it's a player pick I can't complain.

Holy **** calm down, he's better at hockey than most of us can dream to be at our profession/hobby. It's fine to complain that he's not giving his best effort, or he's overpaid, etc. Why get personal? He seems like a nice enough person, he's in the NHL making 4.5m a season, so I don't think he can be that bad. He's not a fit on our team right now - it's up to management to fix that.

You can be terrible at hockey and still show good leadership. How many CP whipping boys have we had donning the A? Butler, Wideman... now Brouwer.

Moronic post is moronic. Perfect example of the outlook of a "fan" who doesn't see hockey players as human beings. Another one to ignore.

I don't think Butler ever wore the A.
IIRC Glencross, Jokinen, Wideman & Brouwer have all taken their fare share of whipping boy status.

We have more than enough "whine about Troy Brouwer" threads already. Yours isn't special.

Without Brouwer, CP will just lit up another player... it's a never ending cycle.

So, after Brouwer is gone, do we have a new whipping boy prepped and ready?

Personally, I don't believe he should have the A any longer but I don't have all the information.

Seeing as people turned on Monahan, Hamilton, Gaudreau, Brodie, and Giordano before turning on Brouwer...I'm pretty sure Tkachuk is next.

Don't get me wrong, Brouwer is definitely a nice guy. I've met him before and he treated me great. However, that doesn't take away the fact that he provides very little, if nothing of use to this team.
He bleeds shots against, he's on our PK despite giving up the most chances amongst any of our forward PK'ers (at least last season he was). If we're paying him $4.5M a year for 3 more years to be a "good leader" than the Flames are throwing their money down the toilet.
I'm happy for him personally that he's been able to make tons of money doing something that the rest of us can only dream of doing, but am I happy he's making that amount of money on my favorite team? Not a chance.
I wish nothing but the best for him as a person, but the fact he's making this much money and going out on the ice looking disinterested and making boneheaded plays shift after shift drives me crazy. He's just not a good hockey player.
