I hope Ovechkin wins a cup at some point. He's one of the best players in the last decade+ and gets a bad wrap from too many people.
Being constantly compared to Crosby doesn't make it easy either. Pretty much every player in the game starts looking bad under that lens.

Insane_Flame loses his mind and proceeds to tell everyone else to calm down. lol
Ovi is just trying to slow father time, once you are in your 30's you can't relay solely on skill.

It must have been a real crash diet, because there was a video of Ovechkin circulating in July of him dancing shirtless with Boney M to Rasputin and he looked pretty chunky in that.
I mean, you can trim 15-20 pounds in a month or month in a half if you get super clean with the diet and exercise, and have excess weight to begin with.
I'm not sure that kind of method will be lasting though.

It's usually a lifestyle change in eating habits when it comes to professional athletes and it can be lasting if the person sticks with it.

^^ His playing weight last year was 239. I don't think it would be that hard for him to slim down from there.

Ovechkin is a goof, Jankowskis last name starts with a J and he was also drafted by a Jay.

I take issue with the thread title. It is fat shaming and is unacceptable, no matter who it is directed at. It is simply offensive and should be changed.

If a player becomes fat, I don't think it's fat shaming to call him out on it. They get paid tons of money (especially him) to remain in peak conditioning.
If a player loses motivation, is it wrong to call him unmotivated and/or lazy?

I thought it was funny in the sense that Ovechkin clearly is not 'fat'. He's a super star athlete playing in the toughest hockey league in the world.

I would like to see if there was a picture of him smoking or doing something else unhealthy and got shamed for it if these SJWs would raise the issue of it being offensive. Just like people can choose to smoke a cigarette they also have the choice of stuffing their face with a junk food. Stupid PC police have leached their way all over sports forums and sports media. Cannot wait for them to finish cannibalizing each other so we can get back to some form of normal where people actually control their emotions and not rely on everybody else to cater to their snowflake feelings.
