After reading through the OP I checked to see the source of the article as it appeared to be a complete copy. Great job kid.

Nice job Scorp. I enjoyed reading that.
Bourque had a big role in one of the most fun sporting events I've ever witnessed live when my son and I went to Heritage Classic.

I think a motivated Bourque could be a great addition to the Olympic Team.
Will be interesting to see how he handles the big ice.

Signing Bourque to a six year contract epitomizes the Darryl Sutter years.

At age 35, he's likely done in the NHL, but even still, he had a great run. Congrats to Rene on finding a new gig, and the best of luck in the future.

He had a great run? Congratulations?
No idea how a gutless wonder that brutal managed to bamboozle enough GM's to last as long as he did.
Rene Bourque sucks, and always sucked and he should have been gone years ago.

I'll always remember Bourque for that 9 minute power play he gave the opposing team one time.

Call me when you play 725 NHL games, pal. Call me when you score 27 goals and 50+ points in a season... twice.
Rene Bourque was a big part of some of the first sporting events that I ever attended. He was a damn good player.

Isn't the end of his NHL career the appropriate time to do a summary? Would you do it after 2 seasons when he might have 10-12 seasons left?

He was a streaky player but I do remember how excited everyone was when he first broke out with the flames. Never found consistency though.
Am I right in thinking Bourque got called for a cross-check with like 2 minutes left in a game in Anaheim years ago? The flames were up by a goal and about to end the losing streak. The Ducks tied it up on that power play (Selanne I believe) and then won it in OT/SO. It was a super weak crosscheck call but I think it was bourque who did it.

Yeah, Bourque retaliated on the other player who made a big hit and the refs over reacted. IIRC we killed the penalty though and sometimes a player needs to that just to show we won't get pushed around.

Yeah, if I remember correctly it was Tyler Sloan of the Caps who made a big (clean) open-ice hit on Langkow. Good hit by Sloan in his first career game, but also good on Bourque to protect one of the Flames' stars.
