Cue the meltdown of the same posters who are always pissed about veterans on PTOs.

I like the idea of PTOs in general, but...
WTF?

PTOs are fine. Except Grossman.

Ok, I'll grant you that was a total disaster. Proves there's an exception to every rule.

...we know what exhibition hockey is like. You always have a batch of younger players running around trying to lay the big hit/start a scuffle in order to "make an impact". Having Glass dress for games in the pre-season is a safety net.
...but, hey, let's toss that logic out the window and freak out!

As is tradition in Calgary. Korpikoski and Higgins had their cup of tea last year too.
Hey, sometimes they turn out. Look at Versteeg. He didn't even have to physically attend the Flames camp and he made it!

It was only really a disaster because everyone said he looked bad and then they went and gave him a spot (and he lived up to billing).
If it's a Versteeg, well, dandy. I don't see Glass filling any kind of needed role however. Maybe he's there to protect the rookies in the pre-season.

I'd rather have Glass over Gadzic. It could just be an insurance policy against teams that may take liberties against the Flames.

Tanner Glass is horrible. Just a pure facepuncher and nothing more. Guy has no actual sort of non-facepunching NHL level hockey skills. He so doesn't deserve a PTO from any NHL team. Should get more like an AHL PTO instead.
Hope this rumour isn't true.

Considering the track record and most recently, the Grossman fiasco. I think fans have a right to be concerned when bad veterans are brought into camp.

I'd take Glass over Gadzic as well but not by much. Guy is not disciplined at all and can't pick his spots well in terms of hurting the team and fell quickly out of favor with AV in New York.
I would still like to see what he has to offer mind you as you never know who might surprise you. It would have to be an enormous surprise tho.

Troy Brouwer had two more goals last year than Tanner Glass has scored in his last five NHL seasons combined.

If you're going to go that route for PTOs, would have preferred Prust.

They already have other guys to protect the youngsters in the preseason. Micheal Ferland, who is needless to say endlessly more talented than Glass. Also, don't forget Hunter Smith and Austin Carroll. Oh, and Luke Gazdic (barf shudder) too.
No NHL team needs Tanner Glass (and Luke Gazdic).
