A curved monitor should be wide enough to replace additional monitors, or at least that's what I would see as the appeal.

I'd have to use one to see if non-gaming would be annoying or if the curve wouldn't interfere and it'd just be like the multi monitors I use now.

If it was more than 100Hz and it wasn't just G-SYNC only I might be more tempted. Next iteration.

Not if you keep a Mumble window + Pidgin + Browser + whatever up on a second or third monitor while in game. GSync, while it does have a "run in window mode" option, does not work nearly as well as fullscreen.

Looks like hopes and dreams are gonna ride on a new xb271. Especially when I can get it cheaper than the xb270. Crossing my fingers for no dead pixels or issues. No whammy, no whammy . . .

What are the major difference between the xb270 and the xb271?

From what I can tell, they improved the stand, smalled bezel, made it over clockable to 165hz, and added an HDMI 1.4 in.

It's nice that you get all that plus everything that made the xb270hu great for a lower price though, especially since it seems Acer has had trouble keeping up with demand.

I think you are bang on. That extra 25 hz!

Seriously though, I'm kinda stressed from reading all this monitor "lottery" with ACER and ASUS models . . .

Eh. I had a stuck pixel on mine but flashing it fixed it.

Monitor lottery has existed for as long as flat panels have been a thing.

I remember an LG series back about 8 years ago that had 3 different panel manufacturers contributing to it's run, and you didn't know which panel you had until you opened the box and held a flashlight and magnifying glass up to it and checked out the chevron pattern.

Samsung TVs had a similar issue.

My Dell U2410 which I've had for like six years now I think I sent back 3 or 4 times until I got one I was happy with.

Oh man, did RNGesus do a number on me for this monitor lottery. Pick up the "new" monitor. Open it up, and it's VERY clearly been already opened and used before.

Had to go back and get another one . . . so far so good. Not to jinx it or anything . . .
