The drain of great Canadian talent to the US continues......
The trend will continue. Salaries are nearly double south of the border when it comes to broadcasting. There are only a select number of gigs in Canada that pay well in the field.

I hope Onrait comes back and replaces Brian Williams/ Ron Mclean for the Olympics.

In Canada, a TV anchoring position pays around 50k (there are expectations, of course - Strombo etc.). That's in a major market. In the US, he'll likely be making closer to 80k and if they are on a contract ladder structure, could be making close to 100k after five years.
One of my former coworkers was a reporter on a Canadian sports station five years ago and was making 40k. He received a job offer in Texas for the exact same position in a smaller market and is making 75k now. Combine that with the fact he was able to purchase an amazing 2500 square foot home for under 300,000, life is food for him

The Quest stands upon the edge of a knife. Stray but a little, and it will fail, to the ruin of all. Yet hope remains while the Company is true. Go Flames Go!
Sometimes they're attempt at humour can be forced and out of placed, but overall they have to be the best duo on the continent. Jay in particular is a really funny guy. Big loss for the Canadian media. Hope them the best down south.

Damn... considering we all make over $100K here on CP, I'm sure we can start our own CP sports network and double what they're getting offered in the US.
Seriously though, that's a surprisingly low salary.

It's not just broadcasting. engineering, medicine, etc....
I really want to go. I have been trying to convince my wife for years, but she does not want to.
