Some of you really need to let go of these line labels and not worry about it so much. Gulutzen rolls his 5on5 units, especially the 1-2-3 lines. Having Backlund on the "third line" doesn't mean anything as he'll still get his important match ups and PK time.

I agree with this. What he needs to do is produce a little better 5 on 5, and he needs to get more power play time.
Watching that video he has the vision and IQ to make skilled plays on the power play and that's going to be the difference between 30 and 40 points this year.
Just went on a trip down memory lane and found this:
Sam Bennett everyone. He WILL be a beast.
Those four goals in one game might be a nicer complete highlight package than the four best goals any single Flame scored last year. The Backwards top shelf on the Engelland rebound, the crazy coordination on the fourth goal finished with a backhand snipe, the Cammy-Snipe off the Hudler assist... even the one that's a gaffe was still slick.

Ok I'll say it. I think Sam will still turn out better than Draisaitl!

It will be interesting to see how it plays out between the two. I was not happy that the coilers got draisaitl as I was pretty sure he was going to turn out to be a very good NHL'r
Bennett is going to give us an emotional outlay that I don't think Ed Drai will be able to; even though he might out score Bennett most seasons.

I know everyone likes to pile on Wideman, but I loved the fact that he just calmly goes up to Bennett after he scored his fourth goal and says don't do the fist bump skate by the bench. Lots of class there as I'm sure all the panthers were just embarrassed by that effort.
Love it even more when Bennett listens, says yep, and just takes it in - another note on how to be a great hockey player...well, at least in my eyes that what it looked like =)

Despite widemans on ice efforts (the hitting the ref incident cough cough). He was a total professional and I feel really did help along with Hudler and the rest of the remaining vets to aid the kids in developing into good professionals.
For me, it looked like Wideman lost his job to Hamilton. He got little PP time and seemed to lose his confidence. Combine this with the incident and maybe losing a step and his contract ended at the right time. Maybe he can find a team who needs a PP quarter back but otherwise he's probably off to Europe or retires.
