I like me some Wennberg. His play tailed off as the year went on last season but I think he's going to be a talented 2 way C if nothing else in the future.

Dominoes starting to fall. Hopefully we'll see Bennett done next week.

That's a really good deal for a very solid 2-way player. Could be a steal of a contract in the next few years.

Very good deal. This is the type of deal I hope Backlund gets

That's an excellent deal for a good player. Jarmo is one of those GMs that always seems to be doing the right thing, yet his team rarely makes the playoffs and never gets out of the first round...

Really solid. Guy is top rate on the power play and solid elsewhere. Really can't fault the price on this one.

Well, he has made questionable choices too, like picking Dubois 3rd overall

Most people seemed to like that pick at the time. It just seems questionable after Tkachuk's rookie season because he would fit like a glove on the Blue Jackets

Except Backlund's deal will cover all UFA years.
Weinberg would be a UFA in 5 years.

He has been a NHL GM for all of four years, and he has led the Blue Jackets to their only two playoff berths in that time. They have had the unfortunate luck to have faced the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round in their two post season campaigns.
I don't think it is fair to judge Kekäläinen on these results given the time frame and circumstances of his employment.

Agree with this. Columbus is an emerging team that had 108 regular season points last year. Of course this is a what have you done lately world so they need to build on that.

Well us Flames fans liked it since it gave us Tkachuk, but at the time Pulujarvi (whatever his name is) was the clear guy to go at number 3 and should bounce back with his potential.

Too early to say it was a mistake. It's not about who makes the first NHL impact but how good these kids are when fully developed. Their scouts liked Dubois and he had confidence in his scouts. I think thats the only way you can draft. But yeah I'll give it 2-3 more years before we can rule on whether it was a big mistake or not. Dubois and Tkachuk looked very similar in terms of upside at the time and I would've been happy to land either. I had a slight preference for Tkachuk. Dubois still has a lot of time to turn himself into a valuable NHLer.

This is a pretty good contract for the team as he's a good player that's going to get better. May be a bargain in a few years.
