Are they still going with that toothpaste colour scheme then? (ie. from this page) Doesn't seem to go that well with Kraken in my opinion, unless they are going to go with a cartoony look.
Maybe unofficially they can be the Seattle Super Squids.
I think octopuses are close to that pink/coral color in that area. Could still work. There was this video that went viral a few months ago.
The Wild, the Blue Jackets, and the Golden Knights were really weird names when they were first unveiled. But after awhile, you get used to it, and people use it like it's always been the norm. I mean, we have a fricking CFL team called the Red Blacks. There's nothing stranger than that, and even that name, people have gotten used to.
Personally, I love Kraken. Didn't think they'd actually go with that.

Love it. Probably because that’s my favorite rum for eggnog. I’m interested in seeing what they do for a logo. It could be epic...or dumb. I hope they get it right.

I love the name. I know there were a fair amount of CPers in the past who liked the name when it there was discussions on what the team should be named.
Initially I didn't like the Golden Knights name, but I've made the Golden Knights my 2nd favorite team because I go to Vegas a lot (maybe too much... no such thing as too much Vegas) and I was there during their first playoff run and it was an awesome atmosphere. I don't care about the name anymore.
Will I become a fan of the Kraken? Perhaps they'll be my 3rd team. Perhaps they won't, but I like the name and it's got that going for it.
It could 'a' Kraken or 'the' Kraken referring to a grouping of Kraken? A shoal? A Shoal of Kraken?
I can see it.
Honestly, I'm okay with it. I was advocating for the Rain City Bitch Pigeons or something to honour Seattle's long and storied history of rampant methamphetamine abuse. You know, something more along their own cultural lines as opposed to being named after a mythical sea monster from the other side of the world.
I hate to break it to Seattleians (<-WTF?) but you're not coastal to all oceans, just the Pacific.
