Yeah I should have asked for more toppings. Didn't really pay attention cause they put the toppings on first, then the meat, then the sauce. I got extra sauce but it's 50 cents there so it's not like most donair places where they just load it up with sauce.
I'd go back, but only for a normal donair. I'll stick with Pita Stop for when I'm really hungry.
Pita Stop, I get the T-Rex with Garlic sauce, Lettuce, Tomato, Onions, Banana Peppers and tons of sweet sauce and hot sauce.

Not often you hear of someone complain there was too much meat, but I can understand a need for balance.
Have you tried the Donair place in Mackenzie Towne? It use to be good, but that was some time ago.

I find with donairs, schwarmas, and Viet sub sandwiches, I make sure they do not add any cheese. Seems like a weird fit for all of them.

While I love The Donair Place in Bridlewood, ever since I moved south I've missed Jimmy's.

Ever since I moved to Sylvan I have missed Jimmy's.
I use to work 2 blocks from his place.
It did nothing useful for my waistband.

No actually and I've been meaning to find a donair place closer to home but never got around to looking if there is one. Will do though. Next time.
(so like... tomorrow)

I've always enjoyed Shawarma Knight near 14th Street and 17th Avenue for donairs.

I'm open for better recommendations but I find the thai thais chain to be consistent. I like any of the charbroiled meats. Downtown /17th Ave recommendations welcome.

Ada? I haven't been there in probably 8 or 9 years. Maybe I'll give it a go tomorrow.

So where did this idea that Calgary didn't have donairs until easterners brought them come from? The first donair I had was in 1982 at the Southcenter food court.
Anyway, I can't fathom why anyone would prefer donair's mystery meat product over a good chicken schwarma. Does dousing donairs in sweet sauce make you forget you're eating spam?

Because chicken is just chicken, while mystery meat can be anything, even chicken.

Subs N' Bubbles. They had a truck, but have since opened a shop on Fairmount drive, just south of Glenmore.

There's a decent place in Red Deer just north of the BMO downtown. Vietnamese subs & rolls if I'm not mistaken. Was pretty good a year or so ago, not sure now. If I'm down there it's always a toss up between them and Red City Donair. The donair guy is way more entertaining.

Love the Subs N Bubbles truck. Too bad if the truck is no more.

I walked by Red City today on the way to Sam's Donair.
How does Red City measure up to Sam's.
