Medvedev winning the title in Rome pushing Djokovic to the 3rd seed sets up a Djokovic and Charlie semi final match with the winner having to beat either Sinner, Rune, Ruud or clay bot Medvedev
unthanks. but hopefully see you in Vancouver in September
Jack, do you have tickets? I haven't purchased any as of yet as I wasn't sure what session I wanted to attend (only planning on attending one session at most).
Brandon Nakashima just eliminated Tommy Paul in straight sets in Lyon and will face the winner of Felix vs. Arthur Fils which is coming up shortly.
Edit: Scratch that as Felix has withdrawn with a shoulder injury
Sigh. I felt he was going to lose to Fils anyway based on his first match (almost went to a tiebreaker with a guy ranked 249) but still this is a bummer. Hopefully he can play in the FO but he really needed to get some matches in to have a chance to do anything.

I wouldn't suspect it's anything too serious and he does have 5-6 days to get himself right. After all, with a major coming up in a few days you don't push even a minor tweak at the Lyon Open.

My biggest fear about Laver Cup is I want to see say Djokovic vs Felix but with my luck I'll end up with Ruud vs Fritz

um yep I'm going to all 3 days. yes I put enough money into Roger's pocket for a new outfit or two. no judgement please.
I'll just say that's the money I would have spent on Indian Wells or Montreal or USO but covid got in the way...so it's all even right...

Nicolas Jarry dismisses Zverev 7-6 6-3 in Geneva which means it will be Jarry vs. Dimitrov in the Geneva final. Zverev losing is a good way to start the weekend.

Meanwhile in Lyon, Arthur Fils advances to the final with a hard fought win over Brandon Nakashima 7-5 4-6 7-6. He looks to win his first ATP tourney on Saturday as he faces Francisco Cerundolo in the final.
Marino gets the youngster Shnaider first, ranked about 100 just into the main draw. If she wins that, cuold be #14 Haddad Maia. That's a decent draw for a qualifier.

Fils ends up winning the title in Lyon. Between him and Van Assche, the French have a couple of young up-and-comers.

Yeah I felt that Fils was playing at a high level and Felix didn't look great in his opening match (entire clay court season really) so pulling out was probably the best call for Felix if he wasn't 100% because he probably has no chance of winning that match if not at his best. May as well try to get 100% for the FO and hope that he can get his clay court game going at the right time.
