I actually think if Shapo could get his head together he could get back on track but Felix's overall game just doesn't threaten top 50 players right now. He needs a lot of work to his overall game.

I mean, the bolded part has to be done. His game has regressed so badly in 2023. You just don't know what Felix is going to show up from one day to the next. He hit one ace to nine double faults in today's match. Both the forehand and backhand were awful. These issues have been lingering for so long now that it makes me wonder what the hell Fontang is doing.

Are we far off from having zero Canadians ranked in tournaments? Leylah had to be a WC for the National Bank Open last week ffs.
This was supposed to be the golden age for Canadian tennis

It still is when you look at the past and maybe we have been a bit spoiled over the last half decade or so. I still think Felix and maybe even Shapo can get their careers back on track but both of them need to make changes in what they are doing right now whether it be coaching, training, mental health, etc. Leylah is a fighter but she lacks weapons and her serve is pretty weak. That US Open final was probably her career peak. It seems like Andreescu body isn't up to the task of a career tennis player and I'm not sure that's going to change but she could have a run here or there when she's healthy and playing well. Still pretty good times for Canadian tennis relative to other generations.

Max Purcell who beat Felix in Toronto last week just now eliminated Casper Ruud. Hey Max, maybe it's time to play more singles and put the doubles on the backburner.

Brutal afternoon/evening in Cincy as both Holger Rune and ADF were forced to retire with back injuries.

Del Po was trying to make a comeback at the US Open as a final send off but he just announced his body wasn't 100% so he's not playing. Poor guy can never catch a break

Charlie was down 2-5 in the opening set, rallies to take the first set in a tie-break. Tommy Paul saves three match points in game 12 of set 2 and forces a 2nd set tie-break and then proceeds to bagel Charlie in that tie-break. That's the roundabout way to say that we need a 3rd set.

Yesterday was the 15th anniversary of Nadal winning singles gold at the Olympics. Currently, only him and Agassi have the golden career, winning all 4 majors and Olympics gold. The tournament was held indoors on hard Court and Nadal had to defeat Djokovic in the semis. Federer would lose to James Blake but managed to win gold in doubles with Stan the man.

I remember nothing about 2008 prior to the US Open. Pretty sure the entire ATP season was cancelled up to that point.
