I read it and thought it was good. Same with Survivors Quest and Allegiance.

Decent enough retcon? Or kinda awkwardly forced like the Jaster Mereel stuff?

just to give you an idea of how awesome the original KOTOR is. i just finished it again for the first time in quite a few years, and i still discovered some new things i had never seen before. this is after at least half a dozen playthroughs when it first came out 7 years ago. and while the graphics are definitely dated, the story and voice acting are still far superior to most games out today, and it was fun to identify so many voice actors that BioWare has used for other games like Mass Effect (many of whom are also signed on for The Old Republic)

if you play through KOTOR then watch the timeline videos i posted earlier, you'll be completely set to go for TOR

Playing the dark side was a little hard on me emotionally. I felt so bad when I told that woman on Tatooine to pursue her droid.

With both KOTORs I told myself I'd go back and play through them as dark side, but I just can't get into it. I think the whole point I play games is to pretend to be some hero, and pretending to be the galaxy's most evil jerk just doesn't do it for me. Although it might just have to do with the fact that I've already played through the game, and 75% of it is the same for either side.

The one thing I specifically remember doing that lowered my light side rating was Force Persuading a couple of would-be muggers to jump down a bottomless pit instead of robbing a lady.

Really? Being an ass in Mass Effect 1 and 2 is hilarious. The Renegade path is so much funner than Paragon (good). Why talk it out like adults when I can insult you instead and then shoot you in the face.

I have been choosing paragon more often than not, and sometimes I really want to choose the renegade option but end up not doing so. I think I just want to stay true to the valiant hero image I have of the character in my head.

in Mass Effect i prefer the renegade route over paragon because unlike KOTOR, you're still the hero in the end. though instead of the knight in shining armor, you're the ruthless type who'll do whatever it takes to get the job done, and you don't take crap from anyone (punching that reporter in the face in ME1 is one of the greatest moments in video game history). and Jennifer Hale does such an awesome job of doing the voice for female Shepherd in the renegade path

Does a female Shepard get a male version of Miranda?

Jacob. it's almost worth doing his romance option as a female Shep just to hear him start talking like a softcore porn actor and the "priiiize"

but my main female Shepherd is only interested in blue aliens

I absolutely enjoyed being evil in KOTOR, but I didn't really decide to be evil until I found out my character was originally a Dark Lord of the Sith, then it was far easier because Revan was a reckless jedi who cut corners and got caught by the Dark Side.

There was something satisfying in the end in having one of your party members murder another party member just because of your words. The other brilliant dark side moment was when you convince two feuding families to kill each other in a shootout while you stand back and twirl your mustache.

I haven't played the second game as evil, but I was definitely neutral and not all that god.

The games are about what 10 years old? I don't think that spoilers apply.

OH MY GOD CAPTAINCRUNCH JUST RUINED HTE GAME FOR ME

I THOUGHT YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE IN TORONTO ANYWAY

I tried KOTOR once and got bored about 15 minutes in and shut it off, my buddy said the first planet is the worst and to just power through it.. I may try it again before the MMO comes out.

I have a big problem with single player games since I started playing MMO's many moons ago..

KOTOR is definitely one of the most satisfying experiences I've had gaming. Definitely play through it, power through and you'll have a blast. I've played through it a ton of times, both good and bad. I feel bad doing some of the bad stuff, but it's fun some times to be a complete jerk.

Sheesh....long weekend coming up, guess I'll be playing through this again....

KOTOR is definitely the best RPG I've ever played. As far as best game ever? Hard to say, but it is probably top 5, definitely top 10.

First wave of Beta invites went out today. If anybody gets an extra one, I'll do pretty much anything for it.

Anything.
