Can we mention how bad tsn has been recently? I like tsn. I like their hockey coverage and their talking heads.

But Gino Reda, who is normally excellent on That’s Hockey, has been embarrassing himself lately. For the second time this week he started the Flames segment talking about their goaltending crisis and how big Smith and Rittich are struggling.

First time he had Button on and Button made him look silly by instantly refuting it because he appears to actually follow the Flames.

Then today Reda had Noodles and some other guy on and started the segment talking about how mad Smith is because he’s been so terrible. Then went on to say that the Flames will have to rely on their red hot top line and specifically mentioned how Johnny, Mony and Lindholm were on fire.

Like what the hell? Do you even watch hockey Gino?

Maybe the over arching theme of the season has been bad goaltending and red hot offence but the last month our goaltending has been solid (with Rittich struggling a bit) and our top line struggling to find consistency.

TSN always looking to manufacture a story, when they did games here, there was always some side story they tried to promote. They have to stir the pot here because now they are forced to have the Flames covered, especially with MTl now out.
And with a Calgary correspondent as quiet, meek and awkward as Franklin, they have to make up stuff like this up out east..

Yes. Even the mighty Hockey Night in Canada is stuck in the hall. Trying to think of what other location would be available. Drawing a blank.

Sorry for bumping an old thread. Quite possible this could be a new thread worthy.

That’s unfortunate but make sense as the Oilers are the bigger team in terms of fan base with rural Alberta as well as Saskatchewan. People like to #### on Sportsnet but I think they forget the days of having 50 games a season televised was a blessing. Now we have access to all 82 games for a reasonable price compared to game tickets. Hopefully it gets sorted out in the end but to reiterate Sportsnet definitely gets a lot of unwarranted hate.

I would be surprised if TSN doesn't pick up regional games for the Calgary Flames

If Connor leaves, this could be a huge mistake for Sportsnet.

It makes perfect sense.

People who (inexplicably) love the Oilers will tune in to watch but they also have the added fan-base of people who love to watch the Oilers the fail, which is arguably even greater than the actual fans of the Oilers.

They really do appeal to a much wider audience.

What a shame if it means the end of Ball and Hrudy - best PBP the Flames have had since Whalen/Pollock.

Maybe they will go back to 50 games coverage, I wonder what the ratings are like.

That's the way television coverage has evolved. It's not like the Flames should bow to Sportsnet for doing so.

If Flames get dropped from Sportsnet Ottawa would be next I believe they have the lowest TV audience.

I can live without Ball/Hrudey if it means we get Cuthbert and Miller in the divorce. I've missed hearing CC call Flames hockey.

Did Grant Pollock do color? I think he had Ryan Leslie’s role.

Pollock never did colour. he was only the host.
Whalen/Bowman and Whalen/Davidson were some of the best in history. Too bad Ed got stuck with one of the worst colour guys ever with John Garrett to end his career.
and how the hell did 2&7 get Scotty Bowman for a year??!
