Thanks for the read. I like the brief summaries. Minor edit - Tyler (not Kyle) Wotherspoon. Also have to agree with your comment on Max. I think his offensive talent and potential are underrated on CP. We'll wait and see I guess.

Reason: Reinhart comment

Great piece. I really enjoyed reading. The only correction I noticed was "Kyle Wotherspoon" should be "Tyler".

Great write-up, Bingo. I agreed 1005 with every sentence.
And as you say, having annual polls to look back on provides a tremendous historical account of fans' opinions on the prospects

The turnaround by Ortio, and the emergence of Granlund and Reinhart are most exciting to me as many had written them off completely.
I like the comment about having traded our 11th and 17th ranked propscets for Smid last year.
2 other auto correct spelling mistakes to correct quickly: Smid from Amid, and Jarome from Jerome.

Your projections, are those at their peak? or the role they'll play in the season they're projected to make the NHL.
Otherwise good stuff.

It's refreshing to look at a prospect list and wonder where the team is going to find room for all of those talented forwards.

I would assume that they are projected first season.

That will likely take care of itself as some players are going to adapt to the NHL faster than others.

That could be a key to speeding up the rebuild. For instance let's say Johnny, Sven, Max, Granlund, Knight, Arnold etc all have great seasons next year and the flames somehow win the McDavid sweeps there are several key assets that can be used as trade bait to bring in a younger D with great potential or other players in the 22-27 range that could put the flames in the playoff conversation as soon as the 15/16 season.
Again where Edmonton has failed is developing later round picks that could be used as trade bait to land the type of players they need around the kids. They moved Pajaarvi who was still a top 10 pick to land Perron in a good move but otherwise have been forced to overpay for free agents like Ference, Pouliot, Gordon, Nikitin to come play there.

It's nice to add some context to these CP rankings.
I don't want to make this into a Feaster thread, but turning Iginla, Bouwmeester, and Erixon into Poirier, Klimchuk, Granlund and Wotherspoon were all big moves that look great right now. By the end of this season we'll see if they still look this good.

Good question, I think its both.
A guy projected to be a scoring line winger will have to play on scoring lines to develop, so in a sense he's already there. However I think grown will occur in those roles so the finished product clearly wouldn't be in year one.

Good read. So would we be happy if we traded our new #11 and #17 ranked players for a Smid type player? I'm guessing not. Which is also a good sign for our prospect pool.

Good point ... I think we can all agree that Jankowski and Agostino both have more value than Horak and Broissoit.

Interesting to note that in the THN year book Broissoit is ranked the #4 prospect in the Oiler organization, while in the Forecaster preview, he is flagged with a "top prospect" ribbon.
Not sure if that's a commentary on the publications or the Oilers' prospects, but I don't think we ever considered Broissoit to be that high up the Flames' list or a top prospect.

What do you mean? As in splitting games?
I think Ortio and Gillies are going to be better than both imo.
