I lost my pup tonight, we had her for 14 years.
She was completely fine on the outside but had an undetected tumor that burst and caused internal bleeding at 4:30 PM today. We had to put her down a hour later.
At a complete loss of words and am in shock. My best friend who got me through my fathers death 8 years ago just perished.

So sorry Otto-matic. Just devastating. My step-son's dog died suddenly last month from cancer. His spleen burst. You have my deepest sympathy. Take care.

I'm so sorry Otto-Matic, Monday was a year since I suddenly lost my cat and I remember how awful it was. All my sympathy to you and your family.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, im still in shock and definitely tears still thinking about her. She had a big impact on my life and I'm glad she went quickly so she didn't have any suffering.
It was like she decided 5pm was her time to leave this earth, she had her kibbles at 4 for dinner and really just had a normal day leading up to it. She came up to the couch for one last scratch from me and wandered down the hallway. That's when I found her lying on the ground unable to move. I'm glad she had my dad upstairs to greet her when she crossed.

Sorry for your loss Otto.
I've only had a puppy for 7 months and already start thinking of this inevitable day sometimes.
I've never had a dog before and finally get it, they really do become a piece of your heart.

Thanks Everyone.
Today is a much better day mentally for me. I don't feel as grief stricken as I was on friday and yesterday. Muffin is in a much better place with my dad and our other dogs.
She never suffered during her end and went with dignity, really the way she out was the way she lived her life eating a full bowl of kibbles and being with us. Its comforting knowing that she did everything she wanted to before she left me and my family.

Lost my little buddy today... two provinces, two houses, three apartments, a wedding, two kids, university, career. He was there through all of them. The best cat ever and I just can't believe that when I open the door to let the dog out tommorow morning he won't be sitting on the landing with his usual "so... about my food" look on his furry face.

So very sorry for your loss. How old was he? What was his name? What colour? We nearly lost our Barney this week - this brings it all too close to home.

He had a good long life he was 16 years, white, looked like a Turkish Angora (although I think that was just a trick of genetics.

Turkish Angoras are very beautiful cats. It sounds like the cat was pretty darn special

I'm laying in bed with my six year old son who is crying himself to sleep as we had to say goodbye to our 13 year old dog today. She had developed two masses that finally grew enough to put pressure on her lungs making it difficult for her to breathe. I have been preparing for this day for a while now but when two young children are involved you can never really comprehend how it will go.
I held my dog in my arms as they put her down. That is an experience that I never want to go through again. With everything going on in this world I am just so broken. I have tried to remain brave and stoic for my children but I just couldn't do it. Today will be the hardest day, I know that. I know for sure that the time was now and that I ended further suffering but man my heart hurts.
