Mikael Backlund is the most dynamic, electrifying and dominant player
An article from Kelowna on Backland.
http://www.castanet.net/edition/news...9-7-.htm#46289
"With all due respect to the likes of Jamie Benn, Evander Kane, Drayson Bowman and Brayden Schenn, Mikael Backlund is the most dynamic, electrifying and dominant player right now in the Western Hockey League.
Backlund, like no other player, has the ability to bring a crowd to its feet every time he touches the puck.
When the puck finds his stick, as it does whenever he steps on the ice, magical things tend to happen.
The 20-year-old native of Vasteras, Sweden has just five goals and three assists in seven playoff games, but it's the timing of those goals and the dimension he brings which make special. "

Great to hear about Backs. Sounds like he really brings it for the big games. It'll be interesting to see if he actually makes the Flames next year or if he ends up honing his skills in the AHL for all or atleast part of the season next year.

If Kelowna and Calgary end up playing in the WHL Final, will definitely have to catch a game.

Too bad, Backlund, but ...
Mikael Backlund has long been one of my favorite players. The former head coach of Team 16, and current Senator scout, Anders Forsberg described Backlund as the best he had seen since Sedin twins and Zetterberg after Backlund had a playhouse in the TV-puck 2005. Four years have passed since then and Backlund is still a great future promise, even if people might not now see a future superstar in the former VIK-player, but a player that could have a long and successful NHL career.

the guy has definitely nhl skills , however, i still see him as huslius type of player with good hands, some playmaking skills, but unable to play physical and step up when it matters.

WTF. Not step it up when it matters? The guy has been clutch for countless World Junior tournaments and shown it again last WHL playoffs.

I watched a few of his WHL games and from what I saw, he didn't seem to shy away from the physical aspect of the game. At times he was a little too aggressive and got a few boarding and checking from behind calls. I thought he stepped it up pretty good in the whl playoffs myself, being named CHL player of the week and WHL player of the week twice in the playoffs.

( I dont think Ive ever seen Huselius try to throw a hit like that)
