Election results 2019: Tories on course to win majority - exit poll

The BBC's political editor Laura Kuenssberg said that if the exit poll figures are broadly correct then Conservative Party leader and Prime Minister Boris Johnson will get the backing he needs in Parliament to take the UK out of the EU next month.

It would be the biggest Conservative victory since 1987 and Labour's worst result since 1935, the poll suggests, with the party forecast to lose 71 seats.

Looks like brexit will happen.

Labour did a terrible job and it seems people are understandably wanting this to be over

Corbyn didn't resign after 2017 so I'll be curious if he does now.

Corbyn should have campaigned harder on the prices of football tickets. That's the kind of attention to domestic policy context you want to see from a leader.

The SNP could be on course to win 55 of the 59 seats in Scotland, according to an exit poll published as voting ends in the UK general election.

If the forecast is correct, it would see the SNP win 20 more seats than the 35 it won in 2017.

The poll, carried out on behalf of the BBC, ITV and Sky News, also suggests the Conservatives could win 368 seats, Labour 191 and the Lib Dems 13.

That would mean the Conservatives would have an overall majority of 86.

Another referendum for independence on its way.

Nothing to be curious about. He's gone.

But in that election Corbyn and Labour finished strongly, when a month earlier it looked like May would win a massive majority.

I guess the good news is there's really no reason for me to renew my UK passport in 3 years when it's up. Can't see any scenario where I'd want to live there and if I can't use it to work or travel in Europe conveniently, what's the point?

If the projections in Scotland are even close to correct, the case for another Independence poll is compelling.

The DUP is on course to lose seats in the six counties. Whilst a United Ireland is not an immediate prospect, that is the clear trajectory.

One would suspect that had the Scottish known at the time that the UK was going to secede from the EU that the initial Independence Referendum may have gone very differently.

I’ve only ever had a Canadian passport but am also eligible for an Irish passport. I may apply for one so that I can pass more easily from the nuthouse that is England (and I do mean England and not the UK) to the EU.

Considerably so. In fact, one of the main arguments made for remaining in the UK was the likelihood that Scotland may have to apply to join the EU and that Spain, with its own separatist issues would have opposed its membership.

Hate is a powerful drug, one that the Russians and hard right wing conservative movements around the world know exactly how to weaponize now on social media.
