The hashtag "FireJessAllen" was soon created and many hockey parents expressed anger over the comments. Allen later clarified that she was only speaking to her own experiences with specific people who were hockey players.

That's all she said? Who cares, that's her opinion, it's a little broad and I don't agree with it but that's not cause to lose her job. You're a huge wussy if some lady's opinion on daytime tv upsets you to the point of spending one second of effort to get her fired.

The dude bro in this thread makes me sad.

You should maybe use green text, lest that gets taken too seriously.

A CBC Manitoba reporter has had to delete a tweet on Don Cherry being terminated.

First world problems.

Calling her a "little broad" doesn't exactly seem reasonable.

I possibly misread that part, though the context kind of made it ambiguous.

https://www.thestar.com/sports/hocke...sgraceful.html

Hockey legend Bobby Orr called the Don Cherry firing disgraceful:

"I know Grapes better than anyone. He's not a bigot and he's not a racist"

Orr also described Cherry as a "generous, caring guy"

"What they've done to him up there is disgraceful. It really is."

I couldn't agree more.

There are a handful of NHL players and ex players who I really listen to. When they say something, including about matters broader than the game, I sit up and take notice.
Bobby Orr is not one of them.

No, not really. It's one opinion among many. Not only that, he's very good friends with Cherry which means it would be nearly impossible for him to be objective about this.

I'm not mad about that, we should all stick up for our friends. But it doesn't influence me one bit.

Or because he is a close friend he actually knows him?

Lots of people would rather read between the lines and skewer the guy than take a direct unambiguous quote and even consider it.

It really reveals a lot about people
