I found a mask in my basement while cleaning, and thought it might be fun to wear while giving out candy to the kids, but I don't want to upset any PC parents if it is now considered offensive. But ya, I could totally pull off Nacho Libre, but i am not going to scare the kids with me in tights. That's just not fair to them.

There's nothing inherently Mexican about wrestling masks. They've been used by wrestlers in Japan and North America too over the years. The culture of the masked wrestlers is a bigger deal in Mexico but as long as you don't do an exaggerated accent or anything, it shouldn't offend anyone.

I usually wear a luchador mask around with my kids trick-or-treating as well. I figure if anyone is offended over a mask on Halloween night while Im walking around getting candy with my kids, they probably have far more problems than I do. I wouldnt worry about it.

I'd consider dressing up as a masked wrestler no different than dressing up as a fireman, or member of any other profession. I agree as long as you aren't adding "Mexican flare" to the outfit or poking fun at the tradition, you're okay.

Halloween postponed (sort of?) in Quebec. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montr...ebec-1.5342247

First government bailouts and shutting down investigations. Then taking away peoples religious rights and freedoms.

Now they are literally taking candy from children.

Was there ever a judges ruling on if dressing up as black or brownface Trudeau is offside?

I thought it would be fun to go as that curly hair younger clip version, but without the black face. Same outfit, white shirt, ripped jeans, but no blackface.

Alternate Timeline Trudeau

I went one year as Riff Raff, a white rapper who emulates black culture....it was very borderline. The outfit included a BET tattoo, a grill, hip hop jewelry, and braids. No actual blackface, but it wasn't worth effort of having to explain the costume to people who were unfamiliar with Riff Raf.

Jagr bomber would have been fine without the Arabic dress.

I think someone of Arab or African descent could pull that off. Not a whitey though.

Instead, he needs to hold a sign that says "I'm from Saudi Arabia".

That’s clear cultural appropriation a privileged white male is a culture not a costume

It is a nice day to be out Tricker treating. Not to windy, pretty warm.

Not as many kids this year it seems, maybe the morning blizzard changed some parents' plans.

I guess this thread'll be the GDT.

Much like the Flames - pretty slow start here in Hillhurst. 24 or so here at 6:45. Got to 60 or so last year.

I have a feeling the brief blizzard scared a lot of parents to.....the mall....
