If he keeps playing like he did last year this will be a great deal.

5.95m huh? Maybe similar to the Ian White situation back then ... "you're not a 6m guy, so 5.95m it is!"
in all seriousness - Bishop was sensational last season. Easily Tampa's MVP ... they really missed him in the playoffs. Interesting to see a 2-year-deal, I expected a longer term. AAV is fine for what he brings to the team. Deal starts in 2015 by the way, as he has one year on his current 2.3m AAV deal left.

There's been enough one-off great season goalies that a 2 year deal makes sense. If he's just as good for these next two years then you dole out the longer term.

Huh. He's the same age and roughly the same experience as Ramo. He had a good year but I would not have guessed 6m.

Ramo's never come close to having the year Bishop just did.
If Bernier has a nice year next season, he'll cost 6 million per for the Leafs.

Why is it every thread your in you try and hijack it into talking about the Leafs? Aren't there Leaf forums for that?

Good contract for both sides. Bishop gets dollars, Lightning get term. They'll need that flexibility in a couple years with Vasilevski coming through the system.

What a steal of a deal this ended up being for Stevie Y. Bishop emerging as a top end goalie and Conacher fighting to stay in the NHL.

This is literally put in here for no other reason than to try to turn another discussion into the Leafs. Get out.

Bernier is the best comparable in the NHL to Bishop.

Tampa is hoping he is not a one-year wonder. Bishop was awesome last season and deserves to sign a good contract. I am just a little leery about the amount. You never know though he might light up the next few seasons or he might one of those goaltenders in the past that had a great season one year then signed a huge contract but struggled after. Just saying. Otherwise I guess it is just a 2-year so it is okay.

Too bad Toronto isn't in a position to take advantage of a talented goalie like Tampa is. I guess it's better that Bernier get peppered with 40 shots per game than Reimer though, so the Leafs have that going for them I guess.
