I understand the McCrimmon votes. Because he was an excellent defenseman, an important part of the cup team and due to the sentimental reasons around what happened to him a few years ago. I expect him to be the worthy winner of this poll.
Nevertheless I am voting for Rautakallio. He was an exciting, talented player and he and Paul Reinhart were the second best Flames pairing ever (behind MacInnis-Suter) and he deserves some love.
I big part of me wanted to vote for Rautakallio, because he was my favourite player when the Flames came to Calgary. However, since I was only six-years-old at the time, it had nothing to do with his hockey abilities, and everything to do with how amazing his name is.

Sarge for sure. Bouw just didn't play well the majority of his time here. Most of the blame probably falls on the coaching staff for misusing him though.
Baxter was the first player I thought of when I saw the thread title. Voted for McCrimmon though. How could I not?
I liked Baxter though. Don't really remember if he was good/not good, just remember him and Reinhart out there a lot and he's one of the players from that area that has stuck with me.

I was a little older than you then and can say he truly was a talented player but it is true that he had an awesome name on top of it. Even better when said by a Finn. Many years later while living in Europe I dated Finnish woman and Pekka Rautakallio was one of the names I made her say over and over. Along with Reijo Ruotsalainen, Ilkka Sinasalo and my all-time favorite Veli-Pekka Ketola.

Not sure if you know this, but Rautakallio means "Ironrock" and "Pekka" originates from "Petros", which also means rock.
So basicly he's Rock Ironrock. Which is pretty cool

I have a number of Finnish friends and colleagues at the University of Helsinki. Everytime they erupt into Finnish conversation, all I hear is this:
