Oilers acquire Severson from Vancouver for futures

To VAN: Kevin Bahl, 2021 1st (edm)

Been looking to add a dman for a while and messaged Vancouver and Severson made sense for both sides. He's a top pairing guy in Jersey and is only 25 years old. Bahl is a good prospect on the same team, and it's definitely a possibility they could be a pairing some day, but we feel like we can compete and could give up Bahl. Hoping my 1st is late but ya never know, I've thought that before and it turned out to be Kaapo Kakko.

From Van's perspective: we free up some cap space and get a 1st + decent prospect in return.
Bahl is intriguing, he was the main piece of the Hall trade but seems a couple years away still. With Bahl, we have a couple good D prospects coming up in the next few years that hopefully at some point can replace what Severson brought.
