Icon35 Question RE: Mark Pysyk

I just acquired RFA RW/D Mark Pysyk from Phoenix and I have a question about his grids.

In the excel spreadsheet he's listed as a 68 overall dman and his grids are 2.75/3.25/3.75.

However, Mark Pysyk played 2019-20 primarily as a forward for the Florida Panthers. There are multiple sources for this. Joel Quenneville played him as a bottom-six winger basically all year long, even starting to play him in the top-six down the stretch (hence his increased production and sim rating).

If Mark Pysyk were a 68 overall forward, his grids would be 1.75/2.25/2.75. And I have plenty of links to merit him being able to play both RW and D in the sim.

So, how should I go about sending in a new contract for Pysyk? I would argue that I should be able to sign him to a contract applicable to a forward of his rating.

Thanks, scorp

Since he is listed as a D in the grids, that's what he is in terms of contract.
Otherwise it would be unfair to the GM you acquired him from, who in part, would valued the player based on the grid amounts as listed.
We also try avoid making any changes to the grids.

Alright. Just checking. I would have signed him for 2.75 either way but I'll put him in for one year instead of three.

He's a 68 overall dman, not sure but when he is changed over to a FWD his OV might
change

I have zero experience with the SIM and that is something Grant would know but something I thought I read somewhere

really not sure though, so this is more of me inquiring than stating fact

I dunno... he has a 72 scoring rating and a 67 defensive rating that seem more applicable to a forward to begin with. I don't know if his ratings would change if he's played at forward, I don't recall that happening with Byfuglien when I had him and changed his position around.

Yeah it could potentially change. Doug is right. The formula to calculate the OVR is different for forwards v. dmen.

Wow, I had no clue the guy played forward.... Great research.

I had to move him as a dman, as I could not afford the cap hit unfortanetely.
