Flames trade Bennett to a ####ty team where he gets top line minutes and finally breaks out

Brady Tkachuk makes the Sens roster and fights Matthew when the Flames and Sens play

Laine pots 50. Jets are ousted in the second round

Ovechkin has an off year

The Leafs make it out of the first round

Flames win every game in Anaheim this year

Oilers are no good.

American team wins the cup.

As I understand it, as long as Peters has Derek Ryan to go to, this is plausible

According to who? A bunch of fans?
Let's look at TOI for the team.
Among the forwards it broke down like this
1. Staal
2. Aho
3. Lindholm
4. Tervainen
5. Skinner
6. Williams
7. Ryan
8. Rask (though Ryan and Rask were virtually identical)
9. McGinn
10. Stemp
11. Kruger
12. Nordstrom
13. Jooris
14. Di Guseppe

Ryan with 7th for average TOI, playing 15:36 on avergae, which is about right for his role on the team. I wonder who fans thought should be playing above him? McGinn? Nordstrom?

I see zero signs that he was overplayed. But this narrative has spread so now folks assume it to be the case.

Non Calgary.-LVK are a bubble team and miss the play offs, with the Oilers over taking them in last 10 games, but lose in 1st round.
-LA misses the play offs.
-Washington misses playoffs
-Buffalo makes Playoffs. Ottawa in last place in league.
-Leafs dominate regular season winning the Presidents Cup, but knocked out first round.
- Pittsburgh wins the Cup.

Flames
-Neal has a brutal first half, and becomes whipping boy. But picks it up second half scoring 21g 15 assists. Only part time whipping boy after that. With Peters the other P/T whipping boy for playing Ryan in to many important mins.
- Mony has 44 goal season, JG 93 points
-Czarnik scores 55ish points. 25 goals
-Janks scores 25 goals 45 points
- Bennett, Gillies and a 3rd traded for a goalie who comes in and stabilizes the net, after Smith goes down long termish. (knock on wood)
- Flames make the playoffs after a rough patch after X-mas (again) but come in hard for the finish. Make it to conference finals with healthy Smith back in net. Loosing to the Sharks, and Sharks lose to Pitt for cup.
- Overall good season for Flames. No one get's fired, fans looking forward to the coming years.

The Edmonton Oilers win the President's Trophy. David Staples crows about it on his blog.

Connor McDavid scores 150 points. Staples crows about it on his blog.

Evan Bouchard not only wins the Calder Trophy, he comes second in Norris voting. Staples crows about it on his blog.

Ty Rattie scores 50 goals on McDavid's wing. Staples crows about it on his blog.

The Oilers fleece the Maple Leafs in a trade for William Nylander, who scores 47 goals playing on his off side on McDavid's other wing. Staples crows about it on his blog.

The Oilers become the first team in NHL history to win the Stanley Cup in a 16-game sweep. Staples crows about it on his blog.

Next July 1, Erik Karlsson takes a massive pay cut to sign a 7-year deal with the Oilers, because he just so desperately wants to be a part of that incredible winning organization. Staples crows about it on his blog.

On July 2, the nice young men in the clean white coats come to take Staples away, because he is dangerously delusional and has been posting all his delusions on his blog.

Flames lead league with 20 goal scorers

Flames use 5 different goalies and still win division

Dube makes team and flames dispose of Lazar Hathaway and another

Peters wins Jack Adams, Gio and Brodie in the running for Norris

Noah Hanafin also is big and can skate like a deer without seeking the attention of a photo bomber.

Neal lifts some silver hardware over his head in the next 3 years ......2 times.

Announcement of a new arena in 2045.

I was going to say

Flames lead league in 20 goal scorers (Everlast beat me to it)
Smith plays less than half of the games
Flames win multiple playoff rounds

Gaudreau 90+ points, Moneyhands 40+ goals and 10 GWGs, Neal and Bennett both get 40 points on third line. Gio and Brodie both get 35+ points. PP in top third and PK in top half of the league. Smith misses at least 20 games due to injury. Flames Corsi% in top five in the league. Flames finish third in the Pacific and eliminate the Oilers from the final wildcard spot on the last game of the season. Staples complains that the referees are cheating the Oilers because McDavid is so fast that they can't even see the penalties he should be drawing, and are tired of calling the ones he does. Flames get through to the second round of the playoffs, then lose to San Jose in seven.

In the offseason, Smith re-signs for 1 year X 3M. Tkachuk signs for 8 years X 8M, Frolik and Stone both traded for late second/early third round picks to make cap room. At least three CP posters demand that Bennett be traded for a backup goaltender.

In an attempt to improve the in-game atmosphere, and proving exactly how adept he is at giving the fans what they want, Ken King replaces Willie Joosen with the Heebee Jeebees for entertainment between the whistles.

Derek Ryan scores 27 goals. Czarnik hits 18.

Troy Brouwer outscores them both.

Not going to make any Flames predictions, but I thought I'd get this out of the way. Luckily I am wrong most of the time with these things:

- All California team miss the playoffs.
- Pettersson plays at a point per game pace but the Canucks miss the playoffs.
- Dougie Hamilton scores 55 points in Carolina. Finishes top 5 in Norris voting.
- Puljujarvi scores 30 goals and the Oilers make the playoffs. Fans are more annoying than ever.
- Ottawa finishes with less than 60 points. Colorado picks first overall with Ottawa's pick.
