Reinhart wasn't competing with Gaudreau and Tkachuk on the left wing depth chart. But he was given first line minutes right from the start. He was almost always paired with O'Reilly, and the other wing was split equally between McGinn and Kane in his first full season.
At this point, there is no question that Reinhart has outperformed Bennett, which he should have, given that he was selected ahead of Bennett. But the gap between them is largely dependent on the situation in which each player was placed.
