Woohoo! Thank God he's no longer writing crap that shoots out of his mouth! He'll likely spew more crap on Sportsnet...

Why do we need someone like that?
He was doing a pretty good job of advocating for the team while not being directly paid by the team.

If his articles and TV stuff can drive people in edmonton as crazy as spector drives us then im all for it. they deserve a taste of their own medicine.
Think about the awesome hot-stove they could have with those two arguing!

Why would that be a problem? It's not like Roger Millions did much besides being a host. Hard to screw up.

That's some serious bad news for Flames coverage if he goes to sportsnet. With all the media consolidation these days there are like 3 or 4 people covering the flames heavily outside of PBP and color guys. If this turd with no background in hockey and less insight than 80% of the people on this board is in one of those key roles that massively sucks.

Eric Francis covering the flames is a hell of a lot better than Spector pretending to be impartial and covering the Flames.
Not a shot at Eric as I have grown to accept most of what he does but, Sportsnet hasn't ever proved to be a quality/polished product. Absolutely anyone is qualified to work for an outfit that employs Gene Principe.

If he showed up to introduced himself on an Oiler's broadcast by beating Principe down with a bat, and then grabbed Spector by the belt and the back of the neck and threw him in a dumpster. Then grabbed a mic and ran down the Oilers, then he would be the greatest person for the job.
And you'd all love him.

He'd be instantly 'Hextall'd.'

Francis isn’t a homer. He definitely tries to stir the pot and I don’t think his analysis is good, but he isn’t Spector who is essentially just a massive massive Oilers fan and is terrible at hiding it.
If anything I think Francis preferred when things were going badly with the team

This.
A thousand times, this.
Are many of you forgetting the several Spector “Flames insider” articles from the past couple years that he used as a bully pulpit to spew Oilers propaganda?
I am no great fan of Eric Francis, but my God, he is a massive improvement over Mark Spector.

He's a contrarian, which is no better than a homer, both are dishonest.
When fans are content or happy he becomes alarmist and riles everyone up, and when fans are discontented with the team he calls them alarmaist and claims everything is better than fans think.
