Mario tennis aces release date is June 22nd. Disappointing. They said it would be a spring release.

Last day of Spring is officially June 21st.

Those a-holes missed it by a day.

I do agree though I was hoping for more of an April/May timeframe and it looked really damn good IMO.

Smash Bros for Switch announced for 2018 too which is a big deal.

I actually feel like the Teaser would have been way better if they just ended it right here and then went to the logo page.

So I finally got a Switch and am playing Mario Odyssey now.

Only question I have is do you NEED motion controls?

I am old and prefer button combos for some of the hat throws

I think there are a few throws that you can't do with buttons.

I prefer buttons as well. The only two motion controls I found myself doing were the swirly one where the hat goes in a circle (needed in a few places), and also the one where you throw the hat down a ledge below you. Both of those you can do without splitting the joycons as well.

I'm sure that there are a tonne of special throws I'm missing out on, but whatever. I seemed to be able to get whatever I needed.

For anybody using google maps today the 10th, you can get mario kart as your car. Have to type in a destination then tap the question mark box in the bottom right.

Super excited for Mario Tennis the most out of the Direct. Smash is much more of a wait and see since I have such high/and low expectations for it since I'm looking at it from a semi competitive angle.

The interesting thing about the Smash Bros announcement for 2018 is that I think it indicates Pokemon will be pushed back to 2019. I can't see them dropping two of their remaining three big system sellers back to back like that.

I wonder if they go in for the kill and go Smash Bros in August/September and Pokemon in November.

If the game is ready to go I don’t see them holding it back into 2019. I don’t think they will rush it out this year if it’s not ready though.

They still have: Metroid Prime 4, Bayonetta 3, Fire Emblem, Pikmin 4, Animal Crossing, 2D Mario/Mario Maker, Mario Party, as games rumoured to be into development to tide them over in 2019.

Then you get into Odyssey 2, 2D Zelda, New Donkey Kong, Mario RPG, Paper Mario, Luigi’s Mansion, Splatoon 3, other Mario sports games, etc that could all come after that to start the cycle again. Plus Pokemon games tend to come out every 2 years now.

They have the first party franchise power to do it and go all in this holiday season. And if they do it and get to the 25M sold target then third parties will have to follow. And considering they are planning to produce that many Switches this year I feel like they might be planning on it.

don't forget Mega Man 11 and entire Mega Man series in late 2018 as well...

definitely going to have to get one of these puppies but yikes... it's a bit pricey. For everything I want it'll be like $1,000...

I'm having some technical issues with my Switch all of a sudden. Should I bring it back to where I purchased it, or should I contact Nintendo directly? Has anyone had some experience with Nintendo support?

I've sent several products to Nintendo. They are great. Even when the condition may have required me to pay, they have done it for free. I had a co-worker who's dog had chewed through his DS. He sent it in and they fixed or replaced it for free. I'd never hesitate to deal directly with them.

Hmmm - well let's hope it doesn't come to that. I'll contact support tonight. It's not a huge problem so hopefully it doesn't require a full reset. All that's happening is I get an error message when I put it into sleep mode. It always re-boots with no issues, but I'm worried having it display that error screen all the time is back for the screen in the long run.

Have you tried holding the power button for 15 seconds, then press it again? That should get a proper reboot.

I have not tried that, but not sure it could help. It's still fully functional, but the error code just appears when I put it in sleep mode. I just hit the power button and the error message disappears and it works like normal.

I'll give that a shot though as maybe I'm not fully rebooting it right now.
