Sounds like GM Speak for "Come at me bro with your best offers yyeeeeAAAAAA%#%^#@#!^!!!!"
I could be wrong tho...
I thought Panarin wanted out of Columbus? This is typical GM banter to keep the value as high as possible. Panarin is gone sooner rather than later IMO.

Money talks. If they offer Panarin a massive deal I could see him signing. Personally I don't feel the team really has a choice but to overpay him. At least they are afforded the opportunity to see how he fares through the first half of the season before committing.

The longer they wait, the more likely Panarin will go UFA. You get past the half way point, he may as well wait and see what the other offers are.

LeBrun mentioned #Canes as one of the teams he knows called #Leafs on Nylander recently. 1050

Hearing noise the Maple Leafs are actively shopping D Connor Carrick, who isn’t in their top-six plans. Told some early convos have occurred, so far.

Canes make a lot of sense for Nylander as they have the D the Leafs could use and would benefit adding a top line forward up front. They also have the cap space to offer $7-8M per
Watch this place go bonkers when they trade Nylander for Hamilton.
But if Dubas is smart, he will try for a real defenseman like Slavin.

Would this place go bonkers?
I am very happy with the return the Flames got where they landed 2 core pieces they could sign for 6 years and less than $5M per. We also did not blow up the back end to do it. Sure we added Ferland and Fox but Ferand was a potential flight risk/overpay and Fox was never coming here.

I think a lot of people here really like Nylander so could see it blowing up...but if on the flip side of that the Hurricanes were already moving on from Hamilton after only a pre-season with him then I feel like that would really start to question why the player was being moved so frequently.
If Nylander gets moved to Carolina and Dubas gets a defenseman back, it's more likely to be one of Faulk/Slavin/Fleury at this point. I doubt the team is ready to trade Dougie so soon after acquiring him.

Whether you like the trade or not, isn't trading your top pairing D (and NHL leader in goals by a D) the exact definition of blowing up your back end?

Not to the same extent as trading a top pairing Dman in a deal without a Dman coming back the other way. Getting a guy like Hanifin who I think is going to be better soon really did not seem like blowing up the back end. I think the Flames fixed it this summer
